父亲的冰糖葫芦
1992年春节前夕,因为有许多事情要处理,一直到腊月三十我才坐上了回家的列车。车窗外大雪纷纷扬扬,漫山遍野银装素裹,我很激动——一半缘于美丽的雪,一半缘于已经一年多没有见到的父母。
下了火车又换乘汽车,在乡政府门前停下来时已经是下午5点了,家在6里外的农村,我只能步行回家了。下了车,街上人很少,不远处有一个人正推着自行车卖冰糖葫芦,插在草杆子上的冰糖葫芦依然红得耀眼,卖糖葫芦的人身上落满雪花,被许多小孩围在中间。糖葫芦卖得很快,他有点应接不暇,有的小孩趁机抓了糖葫芦就跑,他也不敢撵。我想起小侄女叶子,该3岁了,很爱吃糖葫芦,于是我走上前去。
但突然之间,我被自己的发现惊呆了,父亲?那卖糖葫芦的长者竟是父亲!我呆了半晌,才喊了一声:“爸”。父亲回过头来,发现是我,满脸的笑容将原本沧桑的脸挤得更皱,眉上脸上的雪花簌簌消融成水。我的嗓子仿佛被什么东西堵住,一句话也说不出来:没想到久别的父亲竟这样与我见了面。
一会儿功夫,糖葫芦就卖完了,我们一起回家,我想驮父亲,但父亲执意要带我,他说:“你坐那么长时间的车,太累了。”就这样,我们父子俩在漫天风雪中回到了家。
家里到处堆着山楂,我问母亲:“下这么大雪,父亲怎么还去卖糖葫芦?”两年前的一场车祸使父亲原本强健的身体变得衰弱,更何况,年龄不饶人。
母亲说:“你爸是去接你,顺便卖卖糖葫芦,也不知你到底哪一天回来,已经连续好几天了。”
我的鼻子一酸,转身进屋去和叶子玩。
大年初一那天早上5点多钟,我正在酣睡,被母亲推醒;原来父亲已经在做糖葫芦。母亲让我去帮忙。
我到厨房时,父亲已经将糖葫芦做好了。放在案板上凉着。我说:“大年初一为啥还去卖冰糖葫芦?”
沉默了半晌,父亲说:“过年哩,娃娃都有压岁钱,大年初一吃的东西好卖!”
“为挣几个钱连年都不过啦!”我心疼父亲。
父亲无语,自顾自将冷却的冰糖葫芦收入纸箱,拿了插葫芦的草杆子,往自行车上扎。
母亲让我陪父亲一块去,我正要穿大衣同去,父亲却说:“你不用去啦!一会儿就完。”说完,用一根粗绳将腰中的棉袄一捆,推着车出了门。
父亲走后,我和母亲闲聊,又问母亲:“大年初一也去卖糖葫芦,不值!”
母亲说:“孩子,你爸还不是为了你!”
“为了我?”我很惊讶。
“年前你来信说,年后想和梅子结婚,你爸寻思着,你工作才两年,梅子刚工作,你们没有钱,梅子那么娇贵的女娃子,不嫌你当教师的清贫,可我和你爸过意不去,我们想攒点钱,给梅子买个项链,买个戒指,城里兴这个。哎,俗话说:人过40不学艺,你爸做了一辈子厨师,60多岁的人,又要学做糖葫芦,可真难为他啦,刚开始不会做,要么把糖烧焦,要么做得太软,糖葫芦粘在一起了。一次你爸去卖糖葫芦,做得太软,拿在手里糖往下掉,两手都是糖,粘得连钱都没法给人找……”
不等母亲说完,我就推车出了门。
果然在乡政府门前找到了被许多小孩围住的父亲。正忙着卖糖葫芦的父亲抬头看见我时脸上有一种极复杂的表情掠过,穷于应付的他对我说:“你来收钱。”
卖完后刚回到家,父亲说:“我再做一些,今天能卖!”说罢又钻进了厨房。
但是第二次卖得并不好,剩下许多。
晚上,侄女叶子喊着要吃糖葫芦,父亲取了一支,小侄女拿着笑了。父亲给了我一只,说:“快吃,多吃几根,今天卖不完,明天就没法卖了——鲜也不鲜了。”看着剩下的那一大堆冰糖葫芦。我发愁了,母亲说:“没事,卖不成咱自己吃,去年一个冬天我和叶子没少吃你爸卖剩的糖葫芦。”我手里拿着一个鲜红晶莹的冰糖葫芦,那鲜红是血的颜色,那晶莹是汗的光泽,咬了一口,又酸又甜,我不禁掉了泪。
过完春节我要离家时,父亲拿出新新旧旧的2000元钱塞到我的手里说:“给梅子买个戒指,买串项链。”拿着钱我心里酸得难受,我实在没有勇气告诉白发的父母,这钱已经没有用了:就在我回家的前两天,梅子因为我没有给她买个订婚戒指就与我吵架,后来又提出了分手。
