I do not think the traffic condition is bad in Nan Chang expect when it is during the rush hours ,but when it rains , all is in mess.For the road will be full of water and serious traffic jams even traffic accidents will be caused.With respect to causes of traffic jam ,not strict traffic regulations ,poor driving ,crossing the red light and so on.As for the traffic jam in the city ,there are three ways to deal with them.First ,strict traffic regulations are in need of issuing.Second , more training are given to drivers.Third ,we need to persuade people to observe traffic regulations and not to cross the street when the red light is on.If the three ways can work well ,I am sure the traffic jam in the city can be solved effectively.3.冲浪

一、引言

口语教学, 是汉语教学中的重要课型之一。能用汉语流利地进行口语交际表达自己的思想也成为来华留学生学习汉语的一大目标。笔者经过观察得知:学生对课堂中所讨论的话题的感兴趣程度能够直接影响到其参与程度进而很大程度上影响到口语课的教学效果。那么学生究竟对什么话题感兴趣呢?不同性别的学生对话题的选择是否相同呢?学生来中国学习汉语的目的一般是什么呢?又如何根据其兴趣、目的来进行对外汉语口语教学呢?

根据一些人对性别语言的调查研究得知“男生一般对生理健康、安全、金钱和性问题较有兴趣;女生则对吸引力、人生哲学、日常生活计划、心理健康、家庭、亲眷关系等较感兴趣”。和一些人对动机作用的调查研究得知“动机推动学习, 学习增强动机, 这两者是互为因果的”。再结合实践生活, 笔者推断:

1.学生一般对购物、爱情、工作等贴近生活的话题感兴趣。

2.性别差异对学生的话题选择有着重要影响, 大体上看, 男性更倾向于科技、工作等话题, 而女性更倾向于购物、爱情等话题。

3.从学习汉语的目的来看, 选择“为了从事与中国的商务活动”、“为了从事翻译类工作”这类工具性动机的学习者占大比例。

二、研究方案

1. 调查对象

为了排除语言能力对其话题选择的干预, 笔者选择了刚来中国学习汉语的华东师范大学大学一年级两个班的留学生作为调查对象。共发放调查问卷25份, 收回22份。有效率为88%。其中填表的男生数为8, 女生数为14。

2. 程序

采用自编的问卷进行调查。调查问卷的话题选择参考了《国际汉语教学通用课程大纲》 (国家汉语国际推广领导小组办公室, 外语教学与研究出版社2008) 中的汉语教学话题及内容建议表 (附录一, 第31页) 和分级目标描述 (说明IV) 以及每一级的目标及内容。为了保证问卷的有效回收, 填写问卷的方式为班级集体填写, 即由这两个班的口语老师发放问卷, 下课收回。

3. 数据统计与分析

(1) 数据统计

笔者对调查得知的数据进行了三个角度的统计, 并绘制了三张表, 如下:

为了便于图表显示, 按照调查问卷上各个目标的排列顺序, 给其各自定一个代码 (从1开始) , 以下将按照代码进行分析说明。

从表 (一) 可以看出被选择的话题最多的是旅游, 排第二的是购物。被选择最少的话题是动物保护和人口问题, 其次是科技产品和运动。笔者在进行问卷调查之前曾预测学生选择购物、爱情、科技、工作这些话题的会比较多。但是经过调查得出的学生最感兴趣的话题却是旅游, 相对而言, 科技和运动这些话题的选择人数比较少。

从表 (二) 可以看出男生选择的话题以音乐 (57%) 、工作 (36%) 和旅游 (75%) 居多, 而女生选择的话题以购物 (93%) 、旅游 (86%) 和家庭 (71%) 居多。男生没有人选择人口问题和动物保护, 而选择科技的男生有4个人, 占男生人数的50%;选择爱情的女生有9个人, 占64%。按比例来衡量, 男女在购物话题上选择比例差距最大, 女生比男生要高出68%, 而在工作上, 男生也比女生高出39%。

从表 (三) 得知:“为了从事与中国的商务活动和从事外交、翻译类工作”两个目标是学生选择最多的, 各自有八个人, 分别占了36%。这个数据也恰好符合了调查预测。

(2) 分析

考虑到参与调查的被试性别不同, 且各自在人数上存在较大差距, 因而结合表 (一) 和表 (二) 一起进行分析, 并得知:之所以旅游话题能够高居榜首, 与男生和女生对其选择率都高是分不开的。 (女86%, 男75%) 。通过访谈进一步得知, 对于这些留学生来说, 很多都是第一次来到中国, 对中国这个神秘的国度充满了好奇心。他们学习之余更希望游遍大江南北来了解中国的风土人情。另外, 购物之所以排第二, 是因为女生选择该话题的占了93%的高比例, 而女生又占了调查人数的63%。该数据统计同时也反映了性别语言学的相关结论, 按照相关的性别语言学的研究结论, 女生谈论居多的是情感家庭类的话题, 而男生谈论居多的则是工作和国家大事类的话题。可是这在调查表中并没有特别明显的体现, 更令笔者奇怪的是, 按照性别语言学有关知识预测, 女生一般很喜欢谈论情感方面的话题, 而男生一般很喜欢谈论科技方面的话题。这些在调查表中也没有得到印证。笔者就此对几位被试进行了访谈调查。得出的解释是:女生认为这些话题她们是很喜欢谈论, 但是作为隐私话题, 她们不愿意拿到课堂上讨论;男生认为他们是喜欢科技产品, 但是并不喜欢过多谈论此类话题, 仅仅是热衷于此类产品而已。由此我们可以拟得出一个结论, 一个话题是否适合被选用于作为课堂教学不仅取决于学生是否喜欢此话题, 还取决于该话题本身是否适合进行课堂口语教学。

根据Gardner和Lambert (1972) 所提出的融入性动机 (integrative motivation) 和工具性动机 (instrumental motivation) , 分析调查表中的目的选择比例, 发现工具性动机选择比例是最高的, 而融入性动机占少数。又有人经过实验研究得出结论:认为持工具性动机来学习的学生要比持融入性动机来学习的学生在语言能力测试中表现出的成绩更好 (Lukmani, 1972) 。可是从长远来看, 最成功的第二语言学习者往往是那些持融入性动机的人 (Falk, 1978) 。那么如何让这些持工具性动机的学习者在汉语课堂上培养起对汉语的热爱, 对中国文化的热爱, 让其成为融入性动机的持有者, 更好地掌握汉语呢?

三、基于调查报告对对外汉语口语课教学的启示

1. 话题选择与教学处理的启示

话题的选择应该以学生为中心, 讨论其感兴趣的话题。笔者按照调查表的话题排列对时下比较流行的两本口语教材《初级汉语口语》 (戴桂芙、刘立新、李海燕编, 北京大学出版社出版) 和《汉语口语速成》 (基础篇) (马剑飞编, 北京语言大学出版社) 的话题选择进行了统计, 其中, 北大版中旅游话题和家庭话题占据了最大比例, 分别分布在第1、3、17课和第5、8、9课;北语版中旅游话题和购物话题占据了最大比例, 分别分布在第5、7、13课和第8、9、11课。可见, 这两本教材的话题选材与此次学习者的兴趣是相符的。调查表更加强调性地提醒了我们在进行口语教学时, 应该讨论那些学习者感兴趣的话题内容。如果仅仅从宣传中国悠久、博大的文化角度来选材进行对外汉语口语教学反而可能难以取得很好的教学效果。既然男生和女生在话题的选择上有着不同的倾向性, 那么是否把它利用于对外汉语口语的课堂教学呢?笔者认为是可行的。拟给不同性别的学生不同的讨论话题, 引起其参与的兴趣, 调动其参与的积极性是有利于提高口语课堂话题学生参与程度从而提高教学效率的。同时, 在进行对外汉语口语课话题选择时, 教师应考虑到此话题是否适合在课堂上讨论, 会不会因为一些原因造成学生反应不强烈, 参与性不强而影响教学效果。以此次话题调查为例, 学生可能对“爱情”等这类话题本身感兴趣, 但是由于各国文化差异, 他们却不愿意在课堂讨论此类话题。这些非话题本身因素也应该纳入对外汉语口语课堂教学中去。最后, 笔者对调查表中某些选项进行观察得知:在动物保护、国际关系、环境问题、人口问题等这些“男性话题组”中, 女性的选择比例要高于男性。这又告诉我们在现代社会中, 男女谈论的话题并没有非常绝对的界限。以之前设想的按照性别进行话题分组讨论为例, 我们应该注意在进行对外汉语口语教学时应以实际为指导, 适当地融入异性组话题, 鼓励每个学生积极开口练习口语。

2. 关于培养学习者学习汉语的兴趣的启示

兴趣是最好的老师。可能从短期来看, 持工具性动机的学生成绩要好于持融入性动机的学生。但是如何让那些把汉语仅作为一门工具语言来学习的学生真正地爱上汉语、爱上中国文化, 更好地提高其汉语学习水平呢?又如何让那些因为喜欢汉语、喜欢中国文化而学习汉语的人保持其学习的动力和积极性呢?根据此次调查统计可以看出, 中国学习汉语的学生中, 大部分都是因为把汉语作为一门对其工作有帮助的语言工具来学习。那么在对外汉语口语教学中, 应该适当地把其学习汉语的目的也融入到汉语教学中去。教授学习者在工作中使用频率高的口语表达方式, 培养他们的实际语言运用技能;告诉学习者同样的工作在中国和他们的国家异同所在。这样一方面是在学习新的知识, 另一方面又能促进学习者在日常生活中巩固复习已学知识, 并且也把中国的文化潜移默化地渗透到汉语教学中, 让学习者能更自然地了解中国文化。这样有利于引导持工具性动机的学习者融入目的语国家的文化中去。对于本来就喜欢中国文化的学习者, 更应该把汉语学习联系上实际的生活需要, 让他们了解到汉语在人们日常生活中的重要性。在进行课堂口语教学时, 教师要给予这些学生充分的肯定和鼓励, 以免影响到学习者学习的积极性。

总之, 初级汉语口语教学应该让学习者能够将所学的东西运用于实际生活中, 并联系他们学习汉语的目的, 让学习者对汉语和中国文化产生浓厚的兴趣和好奇心。

四、研究不足之处

笔者通过此次调查研究了解到华东师范大学初级学生对话题选择的情况。但是由于种种原因, 此次调查还存在很多不足之处。

首先, 因为华东师范大学留学生的分班并不是按照口语测试水平进行的, 所以本次调查选择的被试的口语能力被界定为“初级”是否准确仍有待商榷。其次, 在调查问卷设置上, 由于笔者考虑不周且能力有限, 造成话题类型不够丰富、话题设置缺乏层次性, 使得学生在填表时出现了找不到需要的选项内容的情况, 并且造成了后来在进行统计的数据与两本教材对比时发现:初级口语教材中常使用的一些话题未录入调查问卷中。如:《初级汉语口语》中的第12、14、15等谈论校园友谊等话题, 又如《汉语口语速成》 (基础篇) 中的第1、3、4、6等谈论住宿环境、天气状况等话题都没有在调查问卷中出现。再则, 在表 (二) 中出现的在某些“男性话题组”选择上 (如国际关系问题、环境问题、人口问题) 女性的选择比例反而比男性高, 笔者未对其进行深入调查分析。

诸如以上问题都有待进一步的调查研究并加以改进。

1 当今大学英语口语教学的现状

1.1 教育方式影响口语教学

目前英语教学之中高校师生普遍把教学和学习的重点放在英语四六级之中, 在教学时存在着不重视口语教学的现象。长时间以来, 我国的英语教学方法大多是沿用以语法翻译法为主的传统教学方法。注重语法知识传授, 忽视英语语言技能和交际能力的培养。通常是教师在讲台上说课, 教师的主导地位突出, 应付考试是学生的主要学习目的, 所以学生只是被动的接收知识, 口语练习的机会较少, 没有养成用英语思考问题的习惯。大多数学生自认为能用英语口语表达自己的思想, 但是实际上却是开口了错误百出, 甚至难以成句。

1.2 缺少与口语教学相应的语言环境

在我国传统英语教育的特点的影响下, 学生很少有机会接触英语, 除了在英语口语教学的课堂之外。语言学家认为, 无论从普通语言学、社会语言学还是应用语言学的角度来看, 语言环境对学习者语言运用能力的提高有很大的影响, 学习者只有在实际交际中经常、反复地加以运用, 才能最有效地习得语言。就当前的在校大学生来说, 他们进行口语练习的主要场所就是在课堂上。影响学生口语能力的进步的主要原因是每周仅有的几节英语课以及在课后不及时复习和巩固。

在口语教学过程中应注意加强口语基础知识的教学。第一, 要对口语的语音、语调进行训练。进行英语口语交流的基础是标准的语音、语调。, 多听标准发音的英语听力练习, 尽可能多的对其进行模仿练习才能掌握标准的语音、语调。教师在课堂上应向学生讲解正确发音的方法及其要领, 同时要示范正确的发音。第二, 要对基本词汇做到准确掌握。基本词汇是口语词汇的核心, 使用频率较高, 在句子中大量的词组都是由这些基本词汇构成的。所以, 想要掌握英语这门语言, 尤其是想要运用英语口语准确的表达思想、进行有效的交流, 就要尽可能多的掌握日常交流中所需的基本词汇[2]。掌握常用的句型, 学习句型可以使学生掌握英语的语言结构, 形成英语的语言习惯, 达到灵活运用语言的目的。第三, 培养跨文化的交流意识和理解意识。语言和文化的关系决定了在英语口语教学中加入文化教学的必要性。在教学上, 要以语言交流为着手点, 将语言和文化内容相结合起来, 不仅对学生进行口语教学还进行文化的认识[3]。 (下转第13页) (上接第10页)

当前高等院校在非英语专业的教学课程只有听力课和阅读分析课, 非英语专业的学生并没有口语课, 增加口语课程是提高学生的口语能力, 改变当前的现象的必要, 学生就可以在这样的系统的学习下不断提高全面的素质。口语课程有较强的针对性和系统性, 在口语教学中英语教师可以纠正学生的发音并给予正确的帮助, 运用口语课程提高学生的口语水平, 促使学生对英语口语有了具体的了解, 给学生创造一个可以进行口语练习和学习的机会以及环境。口语课程可以锻炼学生的英语语言表达能力, 还可以增强学生的自信力。所以增加适当的口语课是十分必要的[4]。

英语口语教学是高校英语教学中的一个重要组成部分, 如何有效的培养、提高学生的口语能力是师生双方都应考虑的问题, 双方需要共同的努力。
