一、今年二季度美国经济表现远低于市场预期

7月底新公布的数据对以来GDP表现作了全面修订，这些数据真实反映了近一年半来美国经济发展的主要脉络(表1)。首先，数据将204个季度的GDP分别从1.3%,0.3%,-1.3%和1.7%调整为-0.6%,-1.6%,-0.3%和2.7%，其中第一到第三季度为连续三个季度的负增长，表明美国经济确曹进入过经济学意义上的全面衰退。其次，数据将年全年GDP增长率从1.2%下调至0.3%，显示此次美国战后第10次衰退(也是21世纪首次衰退)，不仅时间比原来预期的长，而且程度也更严重。

从GDP构成看，二季度美国经济增速减慢的直接原因在于：

1.消费者支出增速回落。过去一年半支撑美国经济免于更严重衰退的消费者支出在二季度开始明显失去动力，从去年第四季度的6.0%降至今年一季度的3.1%后又进一步降至二季度的1.9%，其中耐用品消费支出由一季度下降6.3%转为增长2.4%，非耐用品消费支出由一季度增长7.9%转为下降0.6%，服务消费支出增长0.1%。房地产支出在二季度成为消费者支出中增长最快的部分，但仍无法扭转消费支出下降的整体趋势。

自由飞翔

One windy spring day, I observed young people having fun using the wind to fly their kites.Multicolored creations of varying shapes and sizes filled the skies like beautiful birds darting and dancing.As the strong winds gusted against the kites, a string kept them in check.Instead of blowing away with the wind, they arose against it to achieve great heights.They shook and pulled, but the restraining string and the cumbersome tail kept them in tow, facing upward and against the wind.As the kites struggled and trembled against the string, they seemed to say, “Let me go!Let me go!I want to be free!” They soared beautifully even as they fought the restriction of the string.Finally, one of the kites succeeded in breaking loose.“Free at last,” it seemed to say.“Free to fly with the wind.”
