Third, I suggest that I share my secretary with the assistant office manager, thus eleminating one secretarial position. Although this will increase the managerial workload, I feel we can handle it. Moreover, we can always hire temporary help to get us through particularly busy periods.

If these suggestions are followed, we should be able to save approximately $26,000 in the coming year in salarires alone. So, I believe these changes will result in greater work efficiency.

Eating yogurt and other foods laden with lactic acid may keep your gums from receding and teeth from falling out, Japanese researchers report.

Dr. Yoshihiro Shimazaki and colleagues found that consuming yogurt and lactic acid drinks was significantly associated with better periodontal health.

“But, milk and cheese were not,” Shimazaki said.

Periodontal disease is a chronic bacterial condition associated with receding gums and tooth loss. Outside of regular brushing and flossing, effective measures to allay this disease are limited, Shimazaki, of Kyushu University in Fukuoka, Japan, and colleagues note in the Journal of Periodontology.

Previous research identified a lower occurrence of periodontal disease among people who eat high amounts of dairy products, but did not identify which dairy products were most beneficial, the researchers report.

Shimazaki’s team assessed the severity of periodontal disease in 942 men and women, aged 40 to 79 years, and their intake of milk, cheese, and lactic acid foods.

They found that people with generalized (more advanced) periodontal disease had a lower intake of lactic acid foods than people with localized (less advanced) periodontal disease.

Compared with individuals reporting no lactic acid food intake, those eating 55 grams or more of yogurt (half an 6-ounce carton) or lactic acid drinks a day had significantly fewer markers of severe periodontal disease. The investigators made allowances for factors such as age, gender, smoking, alcohol intake, frequency of tooth brushing, blood sugar and cholesterol levels.

You can’t buy happiness but it looks like you can at least inherit it, British and Australian researchers said.

A study of nearly 1000 pairs of identical and non-identical twins found genes control half the personality traits that make people happy while factors such as relationships, health and careers are responsible for the rest of our well-being.

“We found that around half the differences in happiness were genetic,” said Tim Bates, a researcher at the University of Edinburgh who led the study. “It is really quite surprising.”

The researchers asked the volunteers – ranging in age from 25 to 75 – a series of questions about their personality, how much they worried and how satisfied they were with their lives.

Because identical twins share the same genes and fraternal twins do not, the researchers could identify common genes that result in certain personality traits and predispose people to happiness.

People who are sociable, active, stable, hardworking and conscientious tend to be happier, the researchers reported in the journal Psychological Science.

“What this study showed was that the identical twins in a family were very similar in personality and in well-being, and by contrast, the fraternal twins were only around half as similar,” Bates said. “That strongly implicates genes.”

The findings are an important piece of the puzzle for researchers trying to better understand depression and what makes different people happy or unhappy, Bates said.

People with positive inherited personality traits may, in effect, also have a reserve of happiness to draw on in stressful times, he said.

“An important implication is that personality traits of being outgoing, calm and reliable provide a resource, we called it ’affective reserve,’ that drives future happiness” Bates said.

10.BEC中级商务英语考试失败经验 篇十

结果成绩出来只有C汗颜下面是自己总结的一些失败的经验以往各位准备考的人引以为戒高手就不用看了。

先来说说BEC的听力，语速挺快的，新手肯定不好适应。不过听力是可以短期内提高的一向，刚开始会有些商务英语里常用的词听不懂，但到后来听多了，就觉得差不多，虽然听力有难度但各位不用怕，因为BEC的听力和BBC&.VOA的新闻比，还是要简单很多啊～

口语，你可以事先找好partner，习惯下对方的口音和讲话的思路，但是我比较倒霉，培训班里找的partner没有分在一个考场里，所以只能在考场里临时找一个。不过考试的时候发现其实这个关系也不大，只要你partner说得英语你听得懂就ok了，还有准备下关于自己学习工作方面的基本问题，因为开始上来一般都会问这个，口试的流程事先要熟悉，不然就去一紧张，考官的话就成天书了，

阅读和写作没什么好多说的，和以前经历的大小考试区别不大，有些商务词汇还是要记下的，不然文章看不懂，写作有固定的格式，不要混淆了，这个很关键的。

最后要讲的是真实的考试比平时的练习要难很多，这个是我此次的深刻体会，各位要切记不可像我一样大意啊，如果已经做过真题的朋友们就会发现，真题也要比平时练习卷难，剑桥商务英语证书(中级)模拟试题册人民邮电出版社，虽然是大家公认的和真题比较接近的书，但是由于出书教早难度明显跟不上发展，只有形式是一样的，所以BEC新手可以参考下它的格式，我本人这本书就做了4份听力，明显感觉比考试简单很多。
