因此, 在传统的对外汉语教学中, 所使用的传统教学手段都没有对量词教学进行特殊处理, 没有引起对外汉语教师的特别重视。从实际对外汉语教学中来看, 许多零基础和初级阶段的学生出现了误用、错用量词现象, 一般有以下形式:使用个别量词代替所用量词使用、同音量词互相混用、意义相近差别不明显的量词互相混用、两次重叠使用的误用等。

一对外汉语常用量词教学出现问题的原因

1. 教师不恰当的教学方法和教学手段

从对外汉语教学的实际情况来看, 教师未形成比较系统的量词教学规划, 更少有人去应用多媒体技术进行量词教学方案设计。这就让教师在讲解其他词类时附带讲量词, 而不是把量词本身作为一个主角。这种孤立、单一的量词教学会让学生找不到重点, 而且教学中欠缺的量词辨析互动也让学生不够重视量词学习。这种恶性循环直接导致了量词教学的失败。

分析:“接待”是常用动词,必须要掌握其翻译方法。接某人可以用receive或者pick up或者greet,但是含义有所不同。pick up一般是司机开车去接人,greet则有欢迎的意思。通常情况下,receive用得较多,意思是接待,而且也很客气。

这是我的名片。

分析:第一次见面通常会互换名片。注意不要用this或者that,它们是指示代词。因为名片是递过去的,你不能用手指着名片说。另外,正式场合名片一般不用name card。

分析:通常和外宾寒暄外了之后就要谈有关日程安排的事情了,也是常用的必备句式。特别注意,语气一定要礼貌。

分析:中文常见的一句话,但是不好翻译。一般用于客套,抬高对方的身份,把对方当做主人,充分体现你对另一方的尊敬。

分析:这句话可以在参观工厂的时候说,也可以是带外宾在结束谈判之后在当地景点参观时候使用。也是很常用的一句话。

译文:我会带您参观一下(具体意思视语境而定)。

分析:又是一句必备的口语表达。这句话最主要的内容是表达谢意,因此可以翻使用更加铺张华丽的辞藻来渲染这种感情。商务口译中其实有很多的内容都是有固定表达的,也是有规律可循的。

车子在待命。

分析:这也是接待外宾后,最后说的一句话。通常情况下,你需要开车把外宾带到事先预定好的旅馆房间中去。

修辞格(figures of speech)又叫修辞手法,是通过修饰、调整语句,运用特定的表达形式以提高语言表达作用的方式和方法。它能使语言生动形象富有文采,给人以美的享受。

1.《高校英语专业八级考试大纲(最新版)》对修辞的要求

《高校英语专业八级考试大纲(最新版)》阅读理解部分(Part Ⅱ Reading Comprehension)的测试要求对修辞格的掌握有明确规定:“能理解所读材料的主旨大意,分辨出其中的事实和细节;能理解字面意义和隐含意义;能根据所读材料进行判断和推理;能分析所读材料的思想观点、语篇结构、语言特点和修辞手法。”因此,在综合英语教学中,要对修辞产生的原因及其对提高语言表现力的重要作用进行强化,掌握各种主要的修辞手段,增强对英语的理解能力,有效提高学生实践中运用英语的能力和理解与欣赏英语文学作品的能力。

2.修辞格的分类

修辞格的分类说法很多,本文采取范家材教授的三分法。范家材教授把修辞格(figures of speech)分为三类:音韵修辞格(phonological rhetorical devices),词义修辞格(semantic rhetorical devices)和句法修辞格(syntactical rhetorical devices)。

在教学实践中,笔者发现学生对于音韵修辞格和词义修辞格的特点和作用掌握较好,比如头韵、尾韵、明喻、暗喻、夸张、拟人等;而对句法修辞格了解不多。因此,在综合英语教学中,要有意识地增加学生对修辞格的分析和欣赏。同时,翻译和写作要求学生对修辞格有较好的掌握,否则修辞的翻译进行不好,文章写作也难以有文采。

3.句法修辞格

句法修辞格是指句子结构上的修辞格,主要是指通过句子结构的均衡布局或是突出重点创造出来的修辞手法。这类辞格主要包括排比(parallelism),反复(repetition),反问(rhetorical question),对偶(antithesis)等。下文将以综合英语为例,具体分析其特点和收到的语言效果。

3.1反问(rhetorical question)

反问是一种用疑问句式表达特定意思的修辞方法。用否定句来反问,表达肯定的意思;用肯定句来反问,表达否定的意思。反问起到表达鲜明、加重语气、发人深省、增进读者感情、加深读者印象、增强文中的气势和说服力等方面的作用。如:

“What might that picture be,though? How do you show the opposite of the end of the world?Should it be Nagasaki,intact and alive,before the bomb was dropped or perhaps the spared city of Kokura? Should it be a child,or a mother and child,or perhaps the Earth itself? None Seems adequate,for how can we give a definite form to that which can assume infinite forms,namely,the lives of all human beings,now and in the future?”(Para.3,Unit 4)

恰当使用反问,会使文章富于变化,引发读者的注意和思考。反问是用疑问的形式表达肯定意思的一种修辞方式。这种修辞格表达的意思非常明确,语气不容置疑。在这段中,作者连续向读者提出了四个问题,这四个问题层层递进,由抽象到具体,发人深省。然后自问自答,认为上述题材的照片都远不足以表现人类的生命力。回答问题时,作者又巧妙地使用了一个反问句,让人对这篇主题严肃的文章进行了深思,收到了言有尽而意无穷的效果。再看反问的另一个例子:“Ought not a doctor to observe his patients by any means and from any stance,that he might the more fully assemble evidence?”(Para.1,Unit 8)这句话表达的意思就是:A doctor ought to observe his patients by any means and from any stance,that he might the more fully assemble evidence.

3.2排比(parallelism)

排比的修辞手法又称平行结构,不仅可以加强句子的语势,而且可以形成一种整齐匀称的形式美。这种严整的形式美能更密集、更有力地表现思想感情,加强语势、语言气氛,使文章的节奏感加强,条理性更好,更利于表达强烈的感情(或增强表达效果)。用来说理,可把道理阐述得更严密、更透彻;用来抒情,可把感情抒發得淋漓尽致。如:

“Everything I have said about him you can find on record- in newspapers,in police reports,in the testimony of people who knew him,in his own letters,between the lines of his autobiography.”(Para.10,Unit 8)

作者在上文对主人公的性格进行深刻剖析之后,披露主人公的真名实姓。因为瓦格纳是蜚声世界的作曲大师,令人难以置信,大师外貌猥琐和品行低劣。为了使读者相信,作者使用排比列举证据,令人不得不信。接下来继续使用排比“ He was one of the world’s greatest dramatists;he was a great thinker;he was one of the most stupendous musical geniuses that,up to now,the world has ever seen.”,使读者对瓦格纳的印象大为改观,形象从怪异变为杰出。

3.3反复(repetition)

反复是为了强调某个意思,表达某种感情,即根据表达需要,使同一个词语或句子一再出现的方法。如:

“...that the thing has to be done and the job put through and finished,then,even if it takes months-if it takes years-they do it.”

在本句话中,丘吉尔在同一句子中重复“if it takes...”,采取句子结构的反复,语气铿锵有力,掷地有声,充分表明了不畏艰难奋战到底的决心和勇气,使其演讲更有感染力。

3.4对偶(antithesis)

对偶是字数相等,结构形式相同或相近,意义对称的一对短语或句子,对称排列起来表达两个相对或相近的意思。形式上音节整齐匀称、节奏感强,易于记忆,具有音律美;内容上凝练集中,概括力强。如:

“Do not let us speak of darker days;let us speaks rather of sterner days.These are not dark days;these are great days.”(Para.8,Unit 1)

在本句中,丘吉尔连续使用对偶,把“darker”和“sterner”,“dark”和“great”两组简短有力的词进行对比,旗帜鲜明地表明自己的态度和决心,把悲观沮丧一扫而空,振奋听众的精神,鼓舞斗志。再如:

Buddies seemed to “do”things together;friends simply“were”together.(Para 8.Unit 3)

为了有效表明哥儿们友谊和姐儿们友情的区别差异,作者使用了对偶。本句结构相同,语意相对,表达简练,将两种友谊对比说理,很具有说服性,使读者印象深刻。

句法修辞格在综合英语中的使用俯拾皆是,本文仅举数例简析其作用和效果,对其使用方法和起到的修辞效果,在教学中应得到充分的重视。
