一、让学生明确学习目的

从明确学习目的入手, 初步构建学好英语原动力。教师在第一节课开始就重视讲解为什么要学英语的问题。

1.生活需要。生活需要是我们做一件事情的强大动力。我的第一个标题是:生活中的英语。我让同学们自己说说身边见到的英语, 有的同学说KFC, 有的说NBA, CBA等, 我给同学们出示了路边常见的字母P, 公交车上的up和down, 车辆驾驶方向的L和R, 衣服吊牌上的S、M和L, 以及表示方向的N等, 问他们是什么意思?我还问时下流行语中, “犀利哥, 酷哥, Hold得住”是什么意思?此问题一出, 立刻引起同学们的兴趣, 他们七嘴八舌地说开了, 我顺势引导, 生活中英语无处不在, 掌握好英语就能掌握更多的生活资本, 我希望同学们能掌握好英语, 永远做生活的主人。

二、掌握音标

如何让学生学会读和记英语单词呢?我尝试在语音教学方面有所突破性地展开教学, 以便学生首先会读单词。我的教学目标是学生学会拼读单词, 拥有“形现音出, 音出形现”的能力。并进行阶段性的目标小结与测试, 设关让学生闯, 增强趣味性。让学生在闯关趣味中找到学习的乐趣, 使学习变得轻松好玩。经过实践和努力, 我认为过语音关是提高大面积中学生的英语学习质量的关键, 也是第一步。

1.启发学生学会音标。四十八个音标在学生眼里可不是简单的符号, 很多同学觉得难, 但我有好办法。在这一好的理念“学生是学会的而不是教会的, 教学的艺术不在于传授本领, 而在于激励、唤醒和鼓舞”地引导下, 我及时整合学生在小学所积累的一些词汇并让他们认读, 学生既自信, 又想表现, 因为:

我及时表扬他们, 并且说同学们实际上已经会读二十个元音音标了, 学生们表示不信, 我说你们是最棒的, 来吧, 试试看。我鼓励他们用拼汉字读音的方法来拼自己已经会念的单词, 学生去做了, 而且会拼了, 他们很高兴。我及时给他们纠正一些音的读法, 并告诉他们什么是长元音、短元音、双元音。二十个元音, 一下子记下不容易, 光说不练也不行。在学生基本上会读之后, 我首先设计一些单词和音标的连线题, 让学生进一步熟悉这些音标, 我还让他们用本子来抄下这些元音音标, 下一节课前还要进行听写。通过强化记忆的方式让学生记下这些符号, 事实证明, 效果不错。我用同样的方法让学生学习辅音。 (1) 和学生体验拼读单词。我设计的练习是“我能拼读”, 如, [hi:] [ fæt ] [leg] [gε:l][ ’fa: ðə] [ca:] [’mɔ:niŋ] [bɔ:l ] [ bɔks ] [tu:] [feis] [ bɔi][faiv] [a:ftə’nu:n] [ðis] [ðæt ].学生间合作拼读单词。在学生基本上熟悉音标符号之后, 我又给学生提出进一步的挑战, 我请他们翻开书本的词汇表, 以小组合作学习的方式, 试着挑战自己能否懂得读完词汇表上模块一所有的单词。学生跃跃一试, 有三分之一同学做得很好, 有个别同学比较吃力, 还有一些同学需要老师和同学的帮助。但总体效果良好。在练习的过程中, 多鼓励学生参与, 及时肯定他们的学习效果是关键。 (2) 及时拔高手不软。教师的任务是精心设置梯子, 即设置多个闯关的拼读练习给学生, 抓住学生的自信心和竞争心理, 鼓励学生去自主探索, 让他们在进一步体验中获得成就感从而产生浓厚的兴趣, 变乏味为挑战, 变竞争为更强大的动力。两个星期之后, 学生基本上学会拼读完本册书的单词, 为下一步的学习奠定了强有力的基础。

2.探讨“形现音出”。在学生识记音标和学会拼读之后, 我尝试和学生一起脱离音标拼读单词。 (1) 找出不同的音标下的相应的字母及字母组合。如, lake bag Aa [ei] [?]she leg Ee [I:][e] bike hit Ii [ai][i] go fox Oo [əu] [ɔ] usefew bus Uu [ju:][ʌ] her bird nurse er ir ur [ε:] floor horse fouroor or our ore [ʌ:] 等。 (2) 把一些组合的发音当作一个单词来教, 如tion or al ly ther queen oy ight etc, 有了这些积累, 以后碰到类似的组合, 记起来就容易多了。 (3) 把归类好的单词抽掉音标, 让学生根据字母及字母组合的发音规律来尝试念出单词。让学生在合作、互补、竞争之中相互学习、共同进步, 共同提高。 (另附元音、辅音组合规律, 查看附表)

3.练熟“音出形现”。要能够熟练地使用英语这一工具, 就必须拥有较高的词汇量, 这是学习英语的一个重要特点, 而要拥有一定的词汇量, 就必须从记单词着手。记单词, 这是大部分中国人都特别头痛的事, 对于中学生来说, 也同样如此。首先教他们一些便于记忆、巩固的方法, 如音标记忆法、归纳记忆法、情景记忆法等等, 我还和学生一起探讨“音出形现”, 这是一种英语学习的能力, 我们知道:英语是拼音文字, 能说就要会写。如果“形出音现”的能力已成事实, 那么拥有“音现形出”的能力就成了必然。我每节课利用几分钟时间有针对性的和学生一起回忆音形结合。如:我说boy这个单词是, 我让学生一起回顾辅音是哪个字母, 元音是那两个字母组合, 然后让学生写toy joy point soilnoise等等。有些人认为这样做很繁杂, 但总结起来也就是22个, 基础单词不必练多, 反复熟练是关键, 因为“成功是简单的重复”。

三、激发学生的学习热情

“兴趣是最好的老师”, 只有对学习发生了兴趣, 才会享受学习的欢乐, 从而更加热受学习。我的一些激趣做法是:

1.做好铺垫, 开展丰富多彩的口语活动。在实践积累中, 我发现学生怕听怕说英语, 并且他们也缺乏相应的学英语的大环境, 久而久之, 听说课就变成了只听不说课, 老师也渐渐习以为常了。我觉得要想让学生开口说英语, 必须先让他们有热情。我精心备课, 抓准单元核心句型, 再配上一些单词短语, 反复让学生操练, 掌握之后, 我再在课堂上开设形式多样的口头练习活动。具体做法: (1) 组织学生进行句型问答, 让每个同学都有参加的机会; (2) 设置情景, 让前后所学知识能够连贯使用, 这样既可以复习巩固学过的知识, 也可以让学生有锻炼口语的机会。 (3) 巧设课堂小游戏或小比赛。在学完课文新内容后, 适当设计一些新颖巧妙的小题目, 以游戏或比赛的形式调动学生复习巩固新知识的积极性。以上这些口头活动, 占用时间虽然不多, 但使学生在轻松愉快的气氛中有了听说的机会。既提高了学生口头表达能力和听力, 也激发了学生的学习兴趣和热情。

2.运用幽默的教学语言和多样化的教学手段。每堂课都有特定的学习内容、固定的时间, 作为一个好老师, 应当用生动的语言和灵活多样的教学方法去吸引学生学习。所以, 我每节课都尽力做到精神饱满, 语言生动清晰, 方法多种多样。在教学中, 我结合教材内容的实际, 并运用演示、讲授、提问、讨论等形式, 调动学生学习的积极性和主动性。还帮助学生对新知识进行趣记巧学, 从而减轻学习负担, 提高学习效率。如陈述句变为疑问句方法的口诀:一调二改三问号。口诀朗朗上口, 容易记牢。同时还要学生明白:调什么?改什么?加深学生的学习印象, 也要在练习中让学生去感悟和领会。另外, 在练习设计方面, 教师还注意根据不同层次的学生布置不同层次的题目, 避免差生做题产生自卑心理。这样, 使每个学生都有所收获, 有所发展, 使学生越学越有激情。

3.积极备学案, 基础知识课课清, 重难点知识周周清。在多年的教学中, 我尝试了很多种激趣的手段, 但沉淀下来, 发现最好的激趣手段是因积累、获得而形成的稳定又有自信的兴趣。因此, 初一阶段, 我重点使用这种激趣手段。我的做法是:每一天及时进行单词句型记忆的检测即听写;每一周进行总的单词和句型的检测---基础测试;每一周进行一次知识清单结算, 突破重难点, 不合格的再来一次。平时作业量不是很多, 但基础、重难点知识则进行反复训练。学生练习一次比一次轻松, 能记得更多, 而不是去反复写没有把握的试题, 学生愿意做, 效果也很好。

4.注意多鼓励和及时表扬学生。每个人都希望得到别人的认同和赞赏, 尤其是学生。学生所取得的每一点进步都希望得到老师的肯定。我认为, 对于有进步或表现好的学生, 老师及时、真诚和恰到好处的表扬, 能使学生的积极性得到提高, 所以, 我能积极寻找学生的闪光点。有些学生学习成绩不够好, 但他的英语书写很棒, 或者他回答问题的声音响亮, 语感较好, 我都对他们进行表扬, 使他们在得到赞赏的同时, 产生更大的学习动力。总之, 我深深的体会到, 只有让学生在参与教与学活动的过程中感受到乐趣, 才能唤起他们学习的热情, 形成持久而稳定的学习兴趣, 从而提高教学质量。

四、养成良好习惯

我们都知道:没有良好的学习习惯就没有良好地学习效果, 而良好的学习习惯是学生学习品质的重要表现。在小升初衔接阶段, 我重点培养学生以下学习生活习惯:

1.让学生养成听读的习惯。语言是有声地艺术。古人语:“书读百遍, 其义自现。”对于初学者, 我建议他们先从听开始, 先听再模仿。时间可以安排在早自习或者上课过程中, 学生晚上在家也可以安排一个时段听一听。朗读时首先要读准单词, 理解大意。学生可以根据上课时播放课文原声带, 边听边纠正语音, 语调, 模仿录音, 然后自读。养成诵读的习惯对于英语学习相当重要。

2.让学生养成阅读的习惯。阅读能力是英语能力的主要内容之一。很多中国的孩子学英语, 基本上就是那本教科书, 这对于他们的知识面来说是很窄的, 极不利于英语能力的形成。英语中有一句谚语:Rome was not built in one day.光靠课堂上教师安排的阅读材料是远远不够的。那怎样提高学生的阅读理解能力呢?教师要帮学生选择阅读材料。初中生没有多少词汇量, 选择最简易的内容来帮助学生学会做阅读练习;阅读的内容也该适应他们的兴趣、爱好, 符合他们的年龄和心理特征, 学生只有感兴趣, 看得懂, 他们才会愿意去看, 阅读的教学才能进行下去。只要教师引导得当, 措施得法, 学生一定会由最初的“不会读, 讨厌读, 害怕读”逐步养成“较会读, 自愿读, 喜欢读。”

3.让学生养成积累的习惯。有积累才能有能量, 有能量才能有发展。日常学习三常规: (1) 每天背单词、句型, 每个周末再背一遍, 牢固掌握基础知识。在进行阅读中碰到有用的词句及时记下来, 久积成章。 (2) 每天认真完成作业, 并及时订正校对答案, 做到当天事当天毕。 (3) 每周必完成知识清单, 突破本单元知识的重点和难点, 一遍不合格再来一次, 直到合格为止。经过督促积累, 老师的辛勤付出一定有回报, 学生的勤劳也一定有收获。最终是有实力才会有魅力。

总之, 初一是人一生的重要奠基阶段, 同时也是可塑性最强的一个阶段。而正确地引导和发挥他们的主动性和课堂教学的参与意识, 特别是打好了语音、词汇基础会让学生们在整个英语学习打下了良好的基础, 为今后的进一步学习打下铺垫。

一、课前重导学引领

在教学前,教师应指导学生带着清晰的目的进行预习,通过小组合作学习使各个层次的学生都能在课前做好相应的准备。如在单词预习中,教师可以用“争星”的方式了解和评价学生的预习情况。教师先将学生分成若干个小组,要求学生根据自己的预习情况在相应的栏目前打钩,然后采用组间交互检查与教师课堂提问、课后抽查相结合的方式,对小组内成员的预习情况进行评星,最后根据学习小组内各成员得星总数,确定本组成绩。为了本组的荣誉,各组员之间就会相互督促、相互帮助。

二、课堂重探究归纳

归纳法是从个别性知识引出一般性知识的推理。在衔接教学中,教师不仅要重视字词音、形、义和语法知识的归纳,而且要引导学生在整体把握文章的基础上提升归纳能力,促使学生从被动的阅读者转变为主动的思考者。

1.单词归纳

一、衔接问题的主要成因

初一英语教师大都抱怨:来自四面八方的新生英语水平千差万别、参差不齐,很难统一标准进行大班授课。造成这种现象的原因在于几下几点:

1.不能严格执行标准的相关要求

英语课程标准采用国际通用的分级方式,将中小学英语课程目标设定为九个级别,为英语教学一条龙体系的形成搭建了基本框架。这些课程目标层层推进、丝丝人扣,如果每个学段的英语教学都能严格执行标准中规定的课程目标,我们就可以避免中小学英语教学脱节的问题。但是,中小学英语教学一体化能否形成,很大程度上取决于教育主管部分、学校和教师对标准的执行能力和对教材的使用水平。目前,由于客观条件的限制,部分小学开设英语课程先后不一;部分小学和中学在课时安排、教材选择、课程目标等方面没有执行标准的基本要求;再加上各种英语特色学校和社会上形式各异的英语辅导班、培训班,学生所接受的东西比较杂乱。此外,在考试指挥棒的驱使之下,不少学校、英语老师只看眼前利益,考什么就教什么,根本不顾学生终身英语学习能力的培养。

2、两个学段的教学内容不能对接

随着课改不断深入,中小学各学科的教材也在不断更新,不断进行着增、删、改、补,教材建设日趋完善,但中小学英语教材之间的衔接依然存在着一些问题:其一,有些版本中学英语教材中的教学内容与小学重复过多,造成教材资源浪费,使学生对所学内容学习兴趣大减;其二,两个学段的教材内容上存在落差,小学英语教材的特点是“浅、少、易”,而初中教材从一开始就显露出“起点高、难度大、容量足”的特点;其三,小学教材从儿童的心理特点和年龄特点出发,具有很强的故事性、趣味性,小学英语学习内容相对较为形象直观,对抽象思维能力要求不高,而初中教材却更注重科学性、逻辑性和知识性,学习内容的广度和深度发生了质的变化,要求学生有较强的抽象思维能力、分析判断能力,在思维方式的要求上存在着一定的差异。

3.两个学段的教学方法缺乏过渡

初中英语教师和小学英语教师在教法上、对学生的思维要求等方面也存在着一些差异。由于小学内容少、知识难度小、教学要求低,因而进度一般较慢,而中学教师要在有限的时间内完成教学任务,教的进度就会相对较快。小学教师比较注重英语课堂教学的趣味性、新颖性,注重学生课堂的参与程度,更注重对学生听说能力的培养。小学教师基本上是采用直观法组织教学活动,小学生通过感知语言材料就可以完成学习任务。而到初中后,语言学习的内容越来越多,教师更注重对学生渎写方面的训练,故而教法相对单一、呆板,课堂气氛沉闷。学生除感知材料外,还必须理解语言材料。这就要求学生学会理性思维的方法。一旦学生的学习方法与老师的教学方法不吻合,英语的教与学就会相脱离。教学方法的差异使刚刚进入初中的学生适应不了从感性思维向理性思维的转化。

4.新生缺乏持续发展的能力和动力

基础教育阶段英语课程的总体目标是培养学生的综合语言运用能力,它是学生英语得以持续发展的基本保证,具有这种能力的学生在升入高一学段之后,能在最短时间内适应新的学习环境。而初一英语老师往往在新生身上发现许多问题,有碍于他们的英语持续学习和发展,比如:不会用国际音标来拼读生词或根据音节来记忆单词;不会以意群基本单位来朗读和说话,不注重语音、语调,有的学生甚至还带有方言,缺乏连读、爆破音、弱化音等语音知识;不会恰当使用英汉双解词典自学或辅助学习;缺乏基本语法知识,不分词性,不分主谓宾;没有养成上课记笔记、下课定期复习等良好的英语学习习惯。初中英语教师则对学生学习的主动性、自觉性、独立性有着较高的期望和要求。由于缺乏持续发展的英语学习能力,部分小学生升到初中后,就难以适应陌生的教学环境。

二、解决衔接问题的主要策略

要做到小学与初中学生英语教学的有效衔接,需要中小学英语教师对这两个学段的教学内容有一个系统的学习和研究,要掌握不同学段学生的心理特征、学习方法和管理办法之间的异同,使中小学英语教学真正成为一个相互联系的有机整体。中小学校之间应建立协调、合作的伙伴关系,以“协同发展”的教育理念为指导思想,树立英语终身学习的理念,以身作则、不断学习,加强交流与联系,实现中小学英语教学的双赢。

1.树立英语素质教育的大局观念

标准的制订者把英语基础教育的总体目标细分为九个阶段,其思路是缜密、科学的。能否有步骤、有计划地实施好每一阶段的分级目标、搞好各个学阶段之间的教学衔接,直接关系到课程总体目标的实现。学校和英语教师要舍弃眼前利益,树立大局观念,注重发展学生的英语综合素质教育,培养他们的终身英语学习能力。具体地说,就是激发和培养学生学习英语的兴趣,使学生树立自信心,养成良好的学习习惯和形成有效的学习策略,发展自主学习的能力和合作精神;使学生掌握一定的英语基础知识和听、说、读、写技能,形成一定的综合语言运用能力;培养学生的观察、记忆、思维、想象能力和创新精神;帮助学生了解世界和中西方文化的差异,拓展视野,培养爱国主义精神,形成健康的人生观,为他们的终身学习和发展打下良好的基础。

2设立教学方法衔接的缓冲地带

针对小学生升初中后不能适应的现状,初中教师在教学方法的选择和设计上,就应当考虑对小学的教法有选择地继承,并探索一个行之有效的新思路,既能符合初中目标的要求,又能根据学生的特点,在内容和形式上由易到难,让学生逐步适应,给他们留有一个适应期。初一新生的认知水平与小学毕业时并无明显的分水岭,他们活泼好动、易对新鲜事物感兴趣的天性仍然十分强烈。因此初中教师仍要注意教法的多样化、形象化,努力做到既有对他们兴趣的激发和培养,又有对本阶段教学目标的检测和实施。初一英语老师可以继续把小学的唱歌、游戏、绘画、竞赛等活动引入初中课堂,让学生在轻松、活泼、愉快的气氛中学习英语,使他们逐渐度过一个爬坡式的缓冲时期,以适应初中的教学。另外,针对新生之间英语水平的差异,初一教师在教学中应遵循因材施教的原则,进行分层教学,使不同层次的学生都能在原有基础上有所提高。

For a geography assignment on the United States, I used Encarta to learn about the Mississippi River. I needed to find out how deep the river is, how its widths and depths are different, what states it runs through, and what kind of fish live in it. I used the information to show how the geography of a country affects (影响) its economy. For example, the river’s trade paths, the number of fish caught in it , and the tourists it attracts (吸引)directly affect Southemers’ jobs and incomes (收入), Doing that, I had a lot of fun.

I never go to the library to do research. It takes too much time, Since I live in New York City and both my parents work, getting to the library isn’t always easy. For a big assignment or research project, I’d have to stay at the library to read, or sign out whatever books or magazines I needed. Being able to find the information in my own living room makes everything a lot simpler. Online dictionaries and encyclopedias (百科全书)also save time.

Sometimes, I think the computer spoils (宠坏) my generation because it’s so easy - at least physically. But computers are not like television, which does the thinking for you. You still have to use your mind. I prefer using a computer, because it has so many advantages.
