一、应用英文电影教学的优势

电影是最形象的文学作品, 也是在细节上最真实的、最口语化的文学作品, 它可以极大的弥补我们日常生活中英语环境的缺乏。能读原著、能欣赏英语电影应该是英语学习所追求的一个标志性的内涵目标。学习欣赏英语电影最好有一定的词汇量和阅读能力, 这样可以借助电影剧本深刻的理解电影的思想和细节, 通过积累形成欣赏英语电影的能力。

英语电影资料是鲜活的语言材料, 同时反映了英美国家的文化,英文电影的学习对于提高学生的学习兴趣, 促进听力口语学习, 丰富精神文化生活和拓展视野都具有重要意义。由名著改编的影片可以使学生更好的理解原著的精髓, 得到文学和艺术双重的审美享受, 同时观看英文影片是学习西方文化的机会。英语电影的语言具有真实性,自发性, 直观性, 语感强, 无准备性, 句式多变等特点。英语电影引入课堂后, 可以有效的加强文化教学, 提高学生的跨文化交际的能力, 能培养学生对文化差异的敏感性, 宽容性, 以及处理文化差异的灵活性。笔者认为电影是英语教学不可缺少的手段, 我们应当正确的把英文电影引入我们的英语课堂。

二、应用英文电影的教学的原则

英语电影欣赏教学是培养学生运用语言及其它相关能力的综合性训练方式之一。从相关的教学理论和教学实践来看, 应遵循以下原则。

(1)首先要挑选好的电影。在电影的选择上,老师要下一番功夫,要特别注意知识性与趣味性的结合,并不是所有的英文电影都可以作为教学内容。有些电影学生虽然喜欢,但是看后他们没有什么内容可以讨论,比如说一些动作影片就不是好的选择,它们的内容太空洞而没有必要去讨论。合适的影片学生就可以找到讨论的话题,在语言和内容上可以自然地激发起学生内心感想,这样的影片可以在英语课堂上或课后激发起学生讨论的热情和动力,在语言表达方面起到很好的启迪和借鉴作用。选择影片的另外的一个标准就是影片所使用的语言方面。使用英文电影教学的一个主要原因就是影片中所使用的语言取材于现实生活,更加生动和规范。影片中的语言不仅生动地表现出了语言的重音、连读、语调等等语言现象,还有观众熟悉了的英语的许多成语、习语、地方口音以及他们经常犯的小错误等等。

(2)挑选完电影便可进入教学, 观看之前可启发性地让学生做一些的工作, 以对故事有一定的背景知识了解。接着可播放电影, 这中间不打断, 让学生完全凭自己去理解。播放完毕, 可将学生分成几组, 就影片的故事情节进行, 每组各给出自己对影片的评价或体会。也可以将影片播放完毕后, 挑出部分章节, 对重点台词进行讲解、注释, 让学生反复看, 模仿, 如难度较大, 教师也可在学生反复观看完毕后, 给出电影台词, 让学生进行练习, 甚至可将影片的对话音消除, 让学生边看影片边配音, 这种练习无疑对学生有着极大的吸引力, 同时也是极大的挑战。

(3)要做到积累与重复。选一部或几部比较好的原版英文电影, 重复地看上几遍, 并把电影的文化背景讲给学生听, 挑出其中的重点语言并做精彩对话练习。在此基础上对影片的精彩片断进行模仿, 朗读,背诵或听写练习。经过大量的重复练习, 英语口语的短语或句型就会逐渐积累起来。重复和积累的过程就是培养学生英语语感及用英语思维的能力的过程。另外, 通过原版电影不仅对提高大学生的口语听力非常有效, 还能从不同的电影中积累不同的背景知识, 以便以后阅读或观看其它电影作为参考。有时, 一部电影就会反映出很多背景知识,比如《阿甘正传》就反映出越战, 和平谈判, 六十年代美国学生运动以及种族歧视等诸多背景知识。

(4)利用原版英文电影进行教学, 其实是突出了最新的交际方法,与情景式教学法和句型教学法相比是一重大突破。然而更重要的是,高品质的影片还通过演员的表情和演技, 调动了体态语言的作用, 实现了非语言交际与语言交际的相辅相成, 互相促进的作用, 使学习者不但如身临其境, 而且还能察言观色, 增强对感情与心态的理解, 促进对语言的表层和内涵之间关系的细致体会。只有这样, 学习者才能将英语的听力口语当成一种技能习得, 而不是当作知识去学。另外, 电影中的人物都使用正常的语速说话, 一方面让学习者习惯并模仿实际场合的正常语言, 以使学习致用;另一方面, 更重要的是让学习者充分体会英语口语中常用的缩短和弱化形成, 养成听英语的正确习惯。原版英文电影的这些特点非常适合用来教授刚入学的英语专业的学生。

三、结语

在大学英语教学中,学校应该为学生提供良好的语言学习环境, 完善教学中的电教设备,增加英语电影影片的种类, 充分利用多媒体网络技术, 改进传统的以教师讲授为主的“填鸭式”课堂教学模式。老师应发挥电影语言情景教学的优势,培养学生实际交际能力,还应做到加强对这一教学方式的管理和研究,提高英语教师的教学水平,发挥这种教学方式的优势,提高英语教学效果。

电影分类教学是英语教学中提高学习者英语水平、加强文化意识, 满足学生在各类职场多重需要的有效途径。由于理论界、教师和教学管理部门还未对其重要性加以足够重视, 导致其在英语教学中的作用还未得到完全发挥。如今, 随着多媒体在大学英语教学中的广泛运用, 针对学生在各类职场的不同种需要, 将原版电影导入课堂分类学习, 这种教学方式可以在语音、用词、会话、思维和文化等方面提高学生的职场英语应用能力, 从而发挥电影资源在英语教学中的重大作用。

事实证明, 通过观看英文电影能有效刺激学生的学习兴趣。首先, 电影是动感的, 是有人物、有情节、有主题的语言学习资源。它不像听磁带那样枯燥乏味, 因为有故事情节, 所以学生可以通过故事发展的逻辑推理, 感受电影的乐趣从而大大提高英语学习的兴趣。从理论上讲, 兴趣是一切学习的先导, 是语言学习成功的关键;其次, 通过观看英文电影, 学生可以更加了解西方文化, 体会东西方价值观念的不同。同时, 在词汇学习上, 英文电影语言丰富, 有助于学生对词汇有一个全方位的认识。另外, 电影有声、有像, 而且可能包含着某些实用情景, 如日常交际、办公室交际、餐厅服务 (或点餐) 、酒店客房服务、工作面试等等, 学生可以在感受电影乐趣的同时去学习、模仿并掌握那些对他们有用的情景交际和会话, 最终达到提高职场英语能力的目的。

3 如何“看”英文电影

3.1 影片选择

当然, 电影不能泛泛而看。我们必须对影片有所选择, 做到有针对性地看, 这是看电影学英语的第一步, 也是关键所在。对于不同年级、不同专业以及不同就业前景的学生影片也应有所区别。

3.1.1 按学生基础选择

刚开始可以让学生看一些发音清晰, 语速相对较慢的影片, 如动画片或浪漫爱情剧, 因为浪漫的气氛是需要语言来营造的, 所以这些电影中的语言都会比较优雅或者规范;而高年级学生就可以选择些记录片类的电影, 因为这类片子除了发音比较清晰、标准, 用语规范同时还有一定的专业词汇量, 而且应该是以中英双语字幕的为佳。

3.1.2 按不同专业选择

对于不同专业或是不同就业前景的学习对象在影片的选择方面也应有所区别, 本人将在下文举例说明。但总的来说就是要考虑学生的专业, 以及将来就业可能出现的实景区别。电影里尽可能包含学生专业课程里学习的相关内容, 或是某些将来就业时可能出现的情景, 让其在观赏的同时有所了解进而去模仿并掌握。

3.2 影片观看方法

选好合适的电影片子后, 接下来就是如何观赏了。本人认为, 刚开始给学生看一部电影时最好是不加字幕, 重复看数遍 (第一、二遍可以看完全剧, 但由于课堂时间有限, 此后可以节选相应片段进行重复即可) , 熟悉后再加上英文字幕, 细细的跟读一遍;再回到没有字幕的状态, 再听, 听完再加上字幕看。这种方法, 首先能让学生了解到自己听力或单词量的不足, 对于一些怎么都听不出来, 或者理解不出来的单词印象非常深刻, 一般可以再看过字幕以后做到过目不忘。对于相关必要的情节, 在看完几遍后还可以要求学生进行小组或个人模仿、演练等活动。如电影《KRAMER VS.KRAMER》、《The Pursuit o Happiness》以及《THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA》等均有面试情节, 所以适合用于让学生了解并掌握面试的相关技巧。下面是电影《KRAMER VS.KRAMER》中的一段对白⑵:

除此之外, 还有诸如办公室交际情景用语可借鉴电影《THE OFFICE》 (《办公室》) 中的片段;空中乘务用语及情景可观赏电影《SNAKES ON A PLANE》;如为提高英语日常交流能力可选用电影《WHAT A GIRL WANTS》等等, 在此由于篇幅有限就不一一举例了。

总之, 借助多媒体辅助的电影课堂教学虽然是现代教学手段及方法中的重要一部分, 但是需要教师做的一样还有很多。在整个过程中, 教师首先是要把好关———即选好相应的片子;其次就是要当好学生的引路人, 教会学生如何充分利用这一资源。相信只要努力, 我们学生通过看英文电影一定能够提高听说表达能力, 提高职场英语的运用能力, 从而提高职场的竞争力。

11.小学英语教学中英文歌曲的运用 篇十一

一、 英文歌曲在语音教学中的运用

语音是小学英语教学中最为基础的,也是最为重要的一项教学内容。我们知道英语语音训练的枯燥及长期坚持对小学生来说是最大的学习障碍之一。实践证明,有效兴趣激发是化解问题的关键,而妙用英语歌曲教学语音可达到意想不到的效果。一般而言,语音学习过程主要包括听音、辨音、模仿发音及独立发音等四个步骤。对于语音教学中歌曲的运用而言,笔者认为首要问题是歌曲的选定。

教师要尽量依据小学生的特点选择适当的英文歌曲进行语音练习。分析学生英语的口语表达错误,笔者认为辅音学习的难点为辅音连缀、一些音素的音位变体问题、词末的单辅音、爆破辅音的处理以及汉语拼音中的缺省音。而元音学习难点在于单元音中前四号音的区分及几组所谓的长短音准确区分。比如对/i/和/i:/,/u/和/u:/,/a/和/a:/,/e/和/a/的区分让许多学生困惑。除了元音之外还有辅音部分,英文当中的辅音还包括爆破音、清音以及摩擦音等,如爆破音:/p/,/b/,/d/,/t/,/k/,/g/等。

比如,在双元音和长元音的教学中,可以通过《Father and Son》这首英文歌曲来训练:

It's not time to make a change. (现在还不是做出改变的时候。)

Just relax—take it easy.(请放松点吧,别紧张。)

You're still young—that's your fault.(你还是太年轻了,那是你的命门。)

There's so much you have to know.(你需要学习的东西还很多。)

Look at me—I am old.(看着我,我已逐渐老去。)

教学中通过单词know,old,tomorrow,away,same等加以学习与巩固发音。

辅音的训练也可以选择类似歌曲,如《All l Want from You 》(这就是我唯一的愿望):

Not one that comes and goes.(莫像那暴雨来去匆忙。)

除了注重英文歌曲的选择之外,教师还可以在教学组织上加以探究。比如英文歌曲教学中教师在组织上还可借助一些游戏、角色扮演等手段来完成教学任务。

例如,为了让小学生能够更好地学习音标,课堂教学中可以让两个学生戴上辅音/k/、/n/…等音标的头饰,并用手搭起一座“伦敦桥”,全班同学一起唱歌曲《London Bridge Is Falling Down》,同时,让一组戴着元音/ei/等音标头饰的学生听到歌声后穿过“伦敦桥”,游戏过程中音乐一停,所搭起的“桥”就垮了,这样谁卡在“桥”里,谁就要把两个辅音和自己的元音拼读出来,如:/keik/、/feis/等。

二、 英文歌曲在语法教学中的运用

小学英语中的语法教学内容并不是很多,更多的是通过固定句型的形式加以教授。实践证明,在此部分只要选择好适当的英文歌曲,对于教学效果而言是大有帮助的。相关研究也证明,音乐与节奏都是儿童学习语言的重要组成部分,相比较而言歌词更加容易记牢。

例如,笔者曾在五年级的动词现在进行时教学中运用了英文歌曲教学。在动词“walk”和“run”的现在分词“walking”与“running”教学上,笔者运用了《两只老鼠》旋律的英文歌曲。其中一首歌的歌词是:“Walking walking,walking walking,hop hop hop,hop hop hop;Running running running,running running running,now lets stop,up and down”另外的一首歌的歌词是:“Are you sleeping?Are you sleeping?Brother bear,brother bear.Morning bells are ringing,morning bells are ringing.Ding.dong—dang,ding—dong—dang.”

事实证明,笔者的教学不仅使学生学会了两首英文歌曲,而且对动词现在进行时的结构与读音都留下了非常深刻的印象。

再例如,在“Are you…?”句型的教授时,我们可以通过“Are you Sarah?”Are you Sarah? Are you Sarah?Yes,I am.Yes,I am.Are you Wu Lifan? Are you Wu Lifan?No,Im not.No,Im not.可替换人名进行轮唱。同样在学习现在进行时时,也可用此歌来巩固句型。“Are you sleeping?”:Are you sleeping? Are you sleeping?Brother John,Brother John.Morning bells are ringing. Morning bells are ringing.Ding Ding Dong, Ding Ding Dong.endprint

这样,我们可以实现一曲多用的效果。不仅如此,教师还可以利用一些小学生已经学会的英文歌曲及汉语歌曲的曲谱,通过师生的改词或填词进行英文歌曲的创编以进行语法学习。这种做法,不仅使学生学习的难度得到了有效降低,对于学生学习英语的参与度也有很大提高。

三、 英文歌曲在听力教学中的运用

听、说、读,写是英语学习的四个重要内容,而听位居首位。对于小学生而言,经常会出现上课时学生会读,但过一会儿就忘了;有些单词课后的复习中能背出来,但几天后又忘记了。解决这个问题需要找个能够促进学生长时间记住单词的好办法。实践证明,儿童歌曲以其极富特色的旋律、简单易学,能吸引小学生的注意并能促使其较长时间记忆。所以,教师通过将学习内容有机地融合到歌曲之中,便能有效地促进小学生对英文单词的长时间记忆。不仅如此,一些歌曲童谣往往会配以一定的肢体动作,而这些肢体动作恰恰又可以促进小学生的记忆与理解,对所学的知识有事半功倍的效果。采用英文歌曲进行听力训练的好处就在于英语歌曲作为听写材料有利于听写氛围的活跃,使其不再枯燥、乏味。我们知道音乐往往会让人着迷,相比那些枯燥而乏味的文章,学生对音乐更为敏感,注意力与兴趣的保持时间也更长。

例如,通过英文歌曲《Ten Indian Boys》进行听力教学。歌词内容为:One little,two little,three little Indians.Four little,five little,six little Indians.Seven little,Eight little,nine little Indians.Ten little Indian boys.Ten little, nine little, eight little Indians.Seven little, six little, five little Indians. Four little, three little, two little Indians. One little Indian boy.

在组织教学上,教师可以先将整首歌曲播放1~2遍,观察学生是否了解主要意思。接下来是一句句或一段段地播放。然后再找几个写的相对完整的学生分别将自己所写的歌词朗读出来,而其他同学继续个别修改或补上空缺部分。实践证明,通过这样的设计消除了学生对听写的恐惧心理,增加了学习的自信心。

To begin with,Halliday and Hasan,in their Cohesion in English,have defined reference as a relation between things or facts.In this sense,reference is a device,allowing a reader or hearer of language to trace entities,events or participants in a text,as the examples extracted from the story illustrated,

"<c3>("c"stands for"clause”) Woz and I started Apple inmy parents'garage when I was 20."“<c4>We worked hard…”(participants)

“<c13>What had been the focus of my entire adult life wasgone,and it was devastating.”(event)

“<c30>It was awful-tasting medicine,but I guess the patientneeded it.”(entity)

Secondly,substitution is a relation on the lexical-grammaticallevel to avoid duplication in discourse.For instance,

“<c9>But then our visions of the future began to diverge andeventually we had a falling out.""<c10>When we did,our Board of Directors sided with him.”

This verbal substitution“did”has replaced the whole sentenceprinted in bold above.With some structure substituted though,the extracted text is still cohesive and consistent.

Next,in the book Cohesion in English,Halliday and Hasanput forward ellipsis as the form of substitution in which the item is replaced by nothing,in other words,the omission of an item.For example,

"<c35a>And that is as true for your work<c36b>as it is (true)for your lovers."

In this case of ellipsis,the adjective“true”in brackets is omittedto avoid repetition and prolixity.

Then,conjunction refers to the combination of any two texturalelements into a potentially coherent complex semantic unit.It involves the use of formal markers or conjunctions to relate words,clauses and sentences to each other,as illustrated below,

“<c16>I met with David Pachard and Bob Noyce…”(conjunction of words)

“<c42>So keep looking until you find it."(conjunction ofclauses)

“<cl0>When we did,our Board of Directors sided with him.”"<c11>So at 30 1 was out."(conjunction of sentences)

Last but not least,lexical cohesion refers to the role played bythe selection of vocabulary in organizing relations within a text and it is built up via the semantic choice.For instance,

"<c4>We worked hard,and in 10 years Apple had grown fromjust the two of us in a garage into a$2 billion company with over4000 employees.”

In the sense of lexical cohesion,the entity of"Apple”equates tothat of“a$2 billion company”.

In a nutshell,all the kinds of cohesive devices are utilized toachieve cohesion and coherence grammatically throughout the story I have selected,or the discourse more precisely.
