My father was making a salad, my sister was baking a pie for dessert, and I was washing rice and vegetables, and there were many other things to do. 一、培养学生地道的语言表达习惯
古语有云:“橘生淮南则为橘, 生于淮北则为枳, 叶徒相似, 其实味不同。所以然者何?水土异也。”这句话的意思是环境变了, 事物的性质也会发生变化。英语作为我们中国学生的第二语言, 学习起来有异于母语是因为绝大多数的学生都缺少良好的语言环境, 很多情况下只是纸上谈兵。学了十几年的英语在外国友人面前却连基本的表达都无法清晰呈现, 而这样的现象产生究其背后的原因很大程度上是因为我们在学习了一定的表达后却极少将学到的东西运用到日常的表达上。而英语日记提供给学生这样的机会, 将自己的所思所想用学到的语言表达技巧表达出来。尽管学生在记载英语日记的时候有些表达并不十分准确, 但在一篇日记完成之后给予学生很大的成就感和兴趣。兴趣是最好的老师, 它必将鼓励学生以更大的学习热情投入到英语学习中去, 这样的良性循环带来的结果便是学生会更倾向于用地道的语言表达自己的想法观点, 并形成自己独立的语言风格, 展示语言魅力。
二、拓展学生丰富的思维理念
创作来源于素材, 素材来源于生活。英语的学习同样如此。很多学生在英语表达方面如临大敌, 始终保持着一种无话可说的状况, 使得在英语书面表达这一块成为自己的软肋。扭转这一被动的局面, 首先就要使得学生能有材料写, 其次才是如何写与怎样写出色的问题。而要解决有材料写的问题就必须有一定的积累。俗话说“厚积而薄发”, 没有平时的日积月累, 哪来运用时的喷涌而出。英语日记就充当了一个收集材料的角色。我们每个人生活的每一天都会遇见不同人, 发生不同事, 我们对周围的一切都有着不同的看法。当学生把这一切以英语语言文字的形式记录下来的时候, 他们便多了很多话题的素材, 同时也拓展了他们英语的思维方式, 将他们要表达的观点体现出来, 在日后的实境交流中起到很好的铺垫作用, 不再为无话可说而发愁。
三、激发学生积极的学习热情
学生在平时的语言实践训练中习惯了统一化的英语作文任务, 同时教师提供一定的模板给学生依葫芦画瓢, 学生自由发挥的空间就受到限制。而英语日记给学生带来的是一种新鲜的感觉, 学生不再受条条框框的束缚, 开始发表自己感兴趣的话题并尝试用更精彩更地道的语言去表达更多个性的想法。“书山有路勤为径, 学海无涯趣作舟”, 兴趣的驱动必然给学生更多的动力与热情将语言运用更加深入。笔者曾做过一个实验, 在两个班布置英语作业, 一个班写一篇给定话题的英语作文, 另外一个班写一篇自选主题的日记, 批改的时候发现写作文的一个班无论在字体的工整, 语言的规范, 以及观点的表达方面都略逊写日记的一个班。在此, 要说明的一点是, 笔者并没有鄙薄英语作文之意, 只是强调英语日记更能激发学生表达的欲望。这样的不断锻炼, 最终可以为学生在英语作文方面的提高打下坚实的基础。
四、加深师生之间的互动交流
在科技迅速发展的今天, 人们之间交流更多的凭借高科技的手段, 比如利用手机、E-mail、聊天软件等等来交流彼此的想法与感受, 而英语日记却是采用很原始的手段———手写的文字来表达观点看法, 教师在阅读了学生书写的内容后也会加之以手写的评语给予学生一定的鼓励和肯定。这样的一种方法, 无论于教师于学生, 都蕴涵着一脉温情, 意义深远。同时英语日记也是师生之间相互沟通的桥梁, 若是学生与教师之间存在一些误解又怯于当面表达出来或是因为对教师有一些好的建议与要求而不便当面叙述, 英语日记便充当了学生与教师之间沟通的平台。手写的文字更体现了师生之间更为真实的情谊亦是真情实感的流露, 它必将化解师生之间的误会, 加深彼此之间的情感, 更有利于课堂内外的互动交流。除此之外, 英语日记也是教师了解学生动态的一面镜子, 因为它折射出学生在英语学习方面的状况以及在学习生活中的情况, 能让教师看到学生在课堂之外的另一面。笔者曾经让高一高二的学生记录一周内他们有感想的事情并以日记的形式交来。让我很惊讶的是, 平时在课堂上表现并不十分活跃的学生却在英语日记中迸发出思维的火花, 展现他们另一面的风采。对于英语课堂, 会有许多有创意的建议, 会将生活中遇到的难题或者新鲜的事情与老师一起分享, 期望得到老师的指点和鼓励, 并对老师的课堂教学提出善意的建议等等, 这些无疑给教师提供了解学生的平台。古语云“知己知彼, 百战不殆”, 了解学生, 以学生为主体的英语课堂才能充分利用现有的教学资源达到英语水平的提升, 这不得不归结于英语日记的优点体现。
学以致用, 高中生英语日记的撰写为将来大学英语方面的进一步深入学习和出国深造打下良好的基础。同时, 根据新课程标准对情感价值观的要求, 学生要能用英语恰当表达自己的情感、态度和价值观, 并在交流的过程中理解语言隐含的情感、态度价值观, 有较强的国际视野, 而英语日记必将成为达到这一目标的有力策略之一。
摘要:随着新课程标准关于语言知识、语言技能、学习策略、文化意识及情感态度的要求进一步提高, 学生在学习外语的同时必须能够将所学知识灵活运用在实际的语境之中。英语日记作为其中的辅助手段之一, 不仅能够培养学生使用地道英语的表达习惯, 而且可以拓展学生思路, 激发学生强烈的学习热情。更为重要的是, 在学生情感价值观培养的过程中, 英语日记起到了师生交流沟通平台的作用, 促进师生关系的融洽, 课堂互动的积极开展, 使得英语学习产生真正意义上质的飞跃。
