2011年‘外研社杯’全国大学生英语演讲大赛江西赛区复赛定于2011年11月19日在江西理工大学（老校区）举行。具体通知如下：

1、报名学校每校三名选手，其中包括大学英语的学生和英语专业的学生。

2、本次比赛包括预赛和决赛，预赛选手将讲演准备好的讲演，时间为3分钟，题目为“A word that has changed the world.”。（该演讲题要求有一个小标题）。然后评委提一个有关问题，选手回答一分钟。决赛由重复上午的演讲题目和即兴演讲组成，选手在演讲前10分钟抽取即兴演讲题，第一篇有准备的演讲结束后，对即兴演讲题演讲2分钟。有准备演讲和即兴演讲各100分。（本次即兴演讲题目不公布）

3、欢迎研究生、本专科英语专业和大学英语的学生参赛。为照顾各类学生参赛的积极性，本次比赛预赛分研究生和本科英语专业、专科英语专业、本科大学英语、专科大学英语四组比赛。每组按比例选出若干优秀的选手，参加决赛，这样保证了各类选手进决赛的人数。预赛分组根据报名人数决定。预赛选出20名选手进入决赛。

4、决赛时对各类选手评分标准相同。设特等奖3名，一等奖7名，二等奖10名，三等奖30名。特等奖、一等奖、二等奖按决赛成绩从高到低分选出，三等奖从预赛各组按比例选出。3名特等奖出席全国半决赛。

5、每位选手应交报名费100元。交通、膳食、住宿费用自理。

在写作教学中, 秉持结果教学法 (product approach) 的老师, 将教学聚焦于写作的结果上, 强调写出的文章没有错误并且连贯;而注重过程教学法 (process approach) 则会聚焦在写作的过程上, 认为学生不可能写出完美的文章, 只有通过不断地修改才能接近完美。虽然目前过程教学法比较受欢迎, 但不可否认的是, 传统的结果教学法也能为作文学习带来一定的启发。倘若我们没有错误并且连贯的文章作为写作的目的, 将“完美”或优秀的文章视作规范来模仿, 我们就必须研习范文, 而这一点对于还不能熟练驾驭写作过程的学生来说是不可缺少的。具体的说, 范文的主要作用在于:

1 范文能够充分说明写作体裁的特点

不同的交际目的在作文体裁、篇章结构和语法形式上产生一定的特点。一次写作任务可能涉及到一些常见话题或抽象话题的分析、观点和论述, 也可能涉及到一些数据或过程的描述。我们可以通过谋篇布局、信息的整理和组织将写作意图分解成一个个次目标, 并将这些次目标转换成言语行为。这种将写作意图到言语转换的过程, 是需要宏计划 (macro-planning) 的书面语言的生成过程。了解写作体裁的特点是减轻宏计划工作负担的主要途径, 而要想了解这些特点就必须从研习范文开始。因为通过了解不同体裁的范文, 能够告诉学习者:1) 文章的一般写作内容;2) 如何组织信息或内容;3) 文章的语言特点。对体裁的写作特点不熟悉的学生就必须到范文中了解。

对于中国学生而言, 虽然他们很早就知道文章有记叙文、说明文等的分别, 虽然他们从一开始就学会了按“三段式”来组织全文 (第一段是论点, 第二段是主要内容, 包括论证的证据, 第三段是结论) , 而且有些同学也了解了英文段落写作的“Topic Sentence+Supporting Sentences”的结构模式, 但范文的作用在他们的写作备考中仍然不可忽视。一方面, 汉语的语篇模式和英语的语篇模式并不完全一致。一般而言, 汉语的主题往往不直接点出, 需要先有一个铺垫, 而英语文章的主题往往直截了当。具体的范文远比一些抽象的分类具有更大的操作意义上的指导作用。

利用写作范文去了解写作体裁是可靠的学习方式, 最好还能够在范文的结构和语言方面进行研习, 并弄清楚两个问题:1) 文章结构和语言如何为文章的交际目的服务;2) 有没有别的可能存在的结构和语言上的变化。只有这样, 学生才能最大限度的利用范文的指导作用而不受范文的限制, 才有可能避免全班学生千篇一律的现象, 这也是使用范文抽取模板, 然后使用并抛开模板的最佳途径。

2 范文是了解语篇衔接手段如何使用的最好语境

连贯是篇章的主要特征, 使用各种语篇衔接手段是建立语篇连贯的主要途径, 语篇衔接 (coherence and cohesion) 也是大学英语写作考察的对象。熟悉英语的衔接手段能够大大减轻写作过程中的微计划 (micro-planning) 负担, 能加快语言生成的速度。这一点与具体的语言使用密切相关。如果非常了解并能很好地运用语篇衔接手段, 在获取写作题目后, 就能明确如何分配主题、焦点信息的位置或展开的信息的组织等内容。

外语中的衔接手段是相当丰富的, 如采用“建立局部连贯”的手段, 包括词汇性手段 (词汇重复、同义和上下义) 、替代、省略、共指以及连词等。由于受词汇量的限制和比较保守的学习方法的训练, 大多数学生的写作中一般会使用词汇同义替换和词汇连词两个衔接手段, 尤其是使用连接词使上下文连贯。连词或起连接作用的其他词类如副词和短语, 我们可称之为连接语。多数学生在写作中懂得避免使用不熟悉的词语, 这些学生的作文往往会出现连接语使用不够的现象, 造成文章的逻辑跳跃性很大, 理解比较困难。或者, 教师对连贯有足够的重视, 由于学生对连接语理解的简单化处理, 相当一部分学生主观上虽然想尽量多用连接语, 以加强句子之间的衔接, 但结果是连接语过分堆积, 不仅不能增强任何语义方面的衔接力, 反而往往会增加冗余信息, 甚至造成句子之间语义上的逻辑混乱。这种现象的根本原因还是学生对连接语的语义把握不够, 出现理解误差。而多遍研习范文是对连接词的如何使用, 或者认识到语篇衔接手段如何使用最好的方法。

3 范文能够开阔学生的思路

写什么是写作宏计划需要解决的问题, 也是学生感到非常苦恼的事情。无话可说是很多学生在英语写作中面临的尴尬问题之一。虽然有些教师提供了一些材料给学生, 但真正到了写作实践中, 腹中空空, 是无法提供有效论据并进行顺畅的写作的。显然, 扩大知识面是解决这个问题的主要途径。另外, 还要在平时的学习中, 经常就社会热点问题和常见的抽象话题积极思考, 积极参与相关话题的讨论, 保证随时激活并调用大脑中已有的知识, 养成良好的思维习惯, 进一步为实际写作最好材料的准备。

目前的写作教学比较注重句子和文章的组织框架, 但是, 语篇的表层是为深层的思想内容服务的, 只注重句子结构的写作、段落布局的讲解和词汇语法的积累, 没有观点和思维的训练, 没有足够的话题信息输入, 到头来, 学生还是写不出什么东西来。如果不能把“写什么”纳入到英语写作教学中来, 不能帮助学生养成积极思考的习惯, 不能开阔自己的思路, 必将影响学生英语写作水平的提高。范文是提供写作思路的有效途径之一。大量阅读范文, 并总结信息的整理和呈现方式, 或总结范文的观点和论据, 并感受观点论据展开的方式, 是提高英语写作水平的重要手段。如果课堂上只能学到句子和篇章的组织架构, 那么课后研读范文必将是补充思路不足、观点缺乏的最直接最有效的手段。

摘要：在大学英语教学中提高学生的英语写作水平是最棘手的难题之一, 但如果能恰当利用范文将在很大程度上促进学生在写作上的进步。

一、仿其形

仿其形,即模仿范文的文章模式。在此,笔者以议论文为例。

近年来,江苏高考阅卷专家们几乎都建议学生在写议论文时, 最好有个好的“由头”。何谓由头?何永康教授曾说过,“何谓‘由头’?就是由此说开去的一个‘引子’,一个‘话瓣儿’。好的‘由头’,均有益于议论文的生发。”他还举了个很贴切的例子,如鲁迅先生的《最艺术的国家》,文章开头说:“我们中国的最伟大最永久,而且最普遍的‘艺术’是男人扮女人。这艺术的可贵,是在于两面光,或谓之‘中庸’——男人看见‘扮女人’,女人看见‘男人扮’。表面上是中性,骨子里当然还是男的。”这便是一个绝妙的“由头”,顺着这个“由头”,下面揭露“中庸”的虚伪性就顺流而下,势如破竹了。

想必,这个例子很多高中语文老师都给学生讲解过,但学生对于“由头”,依然不太理解。我想,鲁迅毕竟太高深,我们不妨借助同龄人的范文,效果应该会更好。笔者认为,2011年江苏省满分作文《拒绝平庸》之“风沙渡”,就是一个很好的范文,值得学生模仿。《拒绝平庸》之“风沙渡”是这样开头的:

不由得想起早上过来赶考时瞅见的一家小餐馆,名为“风沙渡”。 独这三字,意境全出,那杂乱的店面也仿佛不嫌粗陋,而自有一种粗犷渺远的豪情在胸中激荡了。

只是一个招牌,却可以让这一家平凡的餐馆从一干“某氏餐馆”“某某小吃”中脱颖而出,这就是超越了平庸的力量。

这样的开头,一下子就让此作文的分数“拒绝平庸”了。骆冬青教授还特意为这篇文章写了评语:以“风沙渡”作引,一种即兴的慧解与内在的积淀交相激荡,上升到思想层面的高贵,鼓舞起粗犷渺远的豪情,使文章既有“意识流”式的自在顺畅,又有哲思性的阔大视野和空灵想象。

这么一个“接地气”的“由头”,相信会使学生对“由头”的认识更进一层。当然,还有很多好的范文能让学生对“由头”有更深的认识,比如江苏省2014年江苏高考的满分作文《书中自有颜如玉》《狂童之狂也且》等。

有个好的“由头”,对于议论文非常重要,但是文章的整个思路更为重要。我曾和学生一起分析了以上三篇范文,让学生去概括文章的模式。学生们的看法比较一致:首先由一个“由头”引出观点,接着分析问题,最后解决问题,反观当下,发出呼吁!笔者觉得,有学生参与其中去发现的文章模式,远比老师硬塞给他的文章模式,来得有效得多。

二、仿其神

仿其神,即模仿范文内容。在此,我想以记叙文为例。

对于记叙文,我相信几乎每一个高三学子都能说出,好的记叙文有什么样的标准,比如有完整的故事、有传神的细节、有真挚的情感、有深远的立意等等。所以,问题在于,学生们并不是不知道什么样的作文是好作文,而是如何使自己的作文成为好作文?怎么样才能写出“完整的故事、传神的细节、真挚的情感、深远的立意” 来?我想,这时借助范文,会取得意想不到的效果。

想必,大家都能想到何永康教授曾点评过的一篇高考满分作文 《怀想天空》。我曾和学生一起赏析了该文及其点评,在此也摘录两段与大家共欣赏:

我是一个农家子弟。我明白我们乡下的家长们要靠田地来生活,供我们上学。他们为了子女辛勤地劳动,但没有半句怨言。在家,我常听到他们说:“只要孩子搞好了,再苦再累,我们都愿意……”【可怜农家父母心!“搞好”,此词用得妙,传神。】

6月5日早晨,我爸起得很早。四点多钟就起了。他临下地时告诉我说:“你再睡会吧!六点钟起来做饭,然后洗洗衣服,八点钟到地里给我送饭。”【全是农家父亲的质朴话语,多情而又实在!有几个家长让孩子在高考前两天劳动的?】

方括号中,是何教授的点评。我让学生先欣赏了教授的点评之后,也让学生们互相讨论,做出自己的点评。学生的点评,虽不及教师这般精彩,但对其写作肯定有很大的帮助。

当然,范文不仅仅是高考的满分作文,也可以是优秀的文章。 我在班级曾做过一项调查:你们在写作文的时候,为什么不选择记叙文呢?近2/3的学生都提到了以下四点原因:没有什么新鲜的素材,全是老套的故事,怕撞车;不会安排布局,总感觉像流水账, 不吸引人;不会描写,语言苍白;情感不丰富,感觉很假。其中“情感不丰富,感觉很假”,是很多学生不选择写记叙文的主要原因。

平心而论,高三学生的生活确实很单调,确实不易被感动。一个不曾被感动的人,怎能写出感动人的文章?既然生活无法给予学生感动,那么,老师何不推荐一下感人的文章,让他们于阅读中获得感动呢?我时常会给学生推荐一下感情真挚的文章,取得了良好的教学效果。

不过,若想在作文教学中,借助范文取得事半功倍的效果,必须选择好范文,这一点至关重要。范文的选择首先应符合主流。不是每一篇高考的满分作文都能拿来做范文的,特别是靠所谓“创新” 技巧取胜的作文,最好不要推荐给学生,以免“画虎不成反类犬”。 其次应以适合本班同学的模仿为标准。每一个老师应该很熟悉自己的学生作文水平如何,在哪一方面欠缺,根据学生情况,选择适合他们的范文,效果才更好。
