乔布斯今年离开了这个世界，没有等到20xx就走了。他的离去令人惋惜，他的成就令人敬佩。但他的性格，如果如书中表现一般，他不是一个好相处的人。为人刻薄，说话不顾及对方感受，生活习惯偏执，是一个非常难共事的人。假如人人都学习他这种管理方式和交流方式，那上班简直就是在地狱。他的成功很难被复制。我一直觉得成功是不可能被复制的。如果有这种公式或者规则，这世界就成了一条流水线。乔布斯身上必定有一种特殊的气质能让人聚集在其周围。他言语尖锐，甚至粗暴，但只是就事论事，不会扩大，加上自身的强大气场，才能使得一大批优秀的工程师在苹果实现了他们的梦想。这东西很难用文字或者言语表达。只有和他相处过的人，可能才会有真正的感受。学是学不来的。

如今的苹果大红大紫。今天在上班的地铁上，听到一对新婚小夫妻在讨论采购苹果的设备。起先老婆要买一体机，老公算了说要花费1.5w，但能打75折。然后又说一个电脑不够两个人用，说要再搞了mac，最后干脆计划着再加个ipad。似乎这是一整套解决方案。乔布斯在天上看到这场面，绝对欣慰。

我一直感觉只有产品的成功，没有一贯的成功。目前只能说iphone从3代到4S一直很棒，ipad2代产品也很出色，但将来谁也说不准。没有常胜将军。苹果把系统做得很封闭很死，同样也是一种限制。这是开放和封闭的斗争，谁对谁错可能都不会有结果。谁也不可能彻底把谁打败。两种不同层次的需求。当然像苹果这种封闭系统需要一直保持优秀的用户体验，才能不输掉这场斗争。

从乔布斯身上学到什么?我似乎懵懂了一点：细节的重要性。他对细节完美追求，加上他对艺术的品味，造就了一系列优秀的产品和服务。细节在当今似乎变得越来越不受到重视。为了追求利润，每个厂商都在做到利益最大化。企业没有把自己产品做到完美，或者说尽可能完美。我们生活中所有一切商品都是定义为快速消费品而生产的。我感觉在iphone目前产品上，也有类似的问题。它不会采用最好的硬件配置(例如摄像头分辨率)来做到同时期最优秀的产品。这是苹果目前被诟病的原因之一，但是单论做工，它绝对能数一数二。在生活中，如果我们把握住细节，往往大方向不会出错。但过分追求细节，会不会被人诟病，尤其是在国内，似乎马马虎虎，差不多，能忽悠，就是成功之道。

I am honored to be with you today at your commencement from one of the finest universities in the world.I never graduated from college.Truth be told, this is the closest I’ve ever gotten to a college graduation.Today I want to tell you three stories from my life.That’s it.No big deal.Just three stories.The first story is about connecting the dots.I dropped out of Reed College after the first 6 months, but then stayed around as a drop-in for another 18 months or so before I really quit.So why did I drop out? It started before I was born.My biological mother was a young, unwed college graduate student, and she decided to put me up for adoption.She felt very strongly that I should be adopted by college graduates, so everything was all set for me to be adopted at birth by a lawyer and his wife.Except that when I popped out they decided at the last minute that they really wanted a girl.So my parents, who were on a waiting list, got a call in the middle of the night asking: “We have an unexpected baby boy;do you want him?“ They said: “Of course.“ My biological mother later found out that my mother had never graduated from college and that my father had never graduated from high school.She refused to sign the final adoption papers.She only relented a few months later when my parents promised that I would someday go to college.And 17 years later I did go to college.But I naively chose a college that was almost as expensive as Stanford, and all of my working-class parents’ savings were being spent on my college tuition.After six months, I couldn’t see the value in it.I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life and no idea how college was going to help me figure it out.And here I was spending all of the money my parents had saved their entire life.So I decided to drop out and trust that it would all work out OK.It was pretty scary at the time, but looking back it was one of the best decisions I ever made.The minute I dropped out I could stop taking the required classes that didn’t interest me, and begin dropping in on the ones that looked interesting.It wasn’t all romantic.I didn’t have a dorm room, so I slept on the floor in friends’ rooms, I returned coke bottles for the 5￠ deposits to buy food with, and I would walk the 7 miles across town every Sunday night to get one good meal a week at the Hare Krishna temple.I loved it.And much of what I stumbled into by following my curiosity and intuition turned out to be priceless later on.Let me give you one example:Reed College at that time offered perhaps the best calligraphy instruction in the country.Throughout the campus every poster, every label on every drawer, was beautifully hand calligraphed.Because I had dropped out and didn’t have to take the normal classes, I decided to take a calligraphy class to learn how to do this.I learned about serif and san serif typefaces, about varying the amount of space between different letter combinations, about what makes great typography great.It was beautiful, historical, artistically subtle in a way that science can’t capture, and I found it fascinating.None of this had even a hope of any practical application in my life.But ten years later, when we were designing the first Macintosh computer, it all came back to me.And we designed it all into the Mac.It was the first computer with beautiful typography.If I had never dropped in on that single course in college, the Mac would have never had multiple typefaces or proportionally spaced fonts.And since Windows just copied the Mac, its likely that no personal computer would have them.If I had never dropped out, I would have never dropped in on this calligraphy class, and personal computers might not have the wonderful typography that they do.Of course it was impossible to connect the dots looking forward when I was in college.But it was very, very clear looking backwards ten years later.Again, you can’t connect the dots looking forward;you can only connect them looking backwards.So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future.You have to trust in somethingI found what I loved to do early in life.Woz and I started Apple in my parents garage when I was 20.We worked hard, and in 10 years Apple had grown from just the two of us in a garage into a $2 billion company with over 4000 employees.We had just released our finest creationa year earlier, and I had just turned 30.And then I got fired.How can you get fired from a company you started? Well, as Apple grew we hired someone who I thought was very talented to run the company with me, and for the first year or so things went well.But then our visions of the future began to diverge and eventually we had a falling out.When we did, our Board of Directors sided with him.So at 30 I was out.And very publicly out.What had been the focus of my entire adult life was gone, and it was devastating.I really didn’t know what to do for a few months.I felt that I had let the previous generation of entrepreneurs downI still loved what I did.The turn of events at Apple had not changed that one bit.I had been rejected, but I was still in love.And so I decided to start over.I didn’t see it then, but it turned out that getting fired from Apple was the best thing that could have ever happened to me.The heaviness of being successful was replaced by the lightness of being a beginner again, less sure about everything.It freed me to enter one of the most creative periods of my life.During the next five years, I started a company named NeXT, another company named Pixar, and fell in love with an amazing woman who would become my wife.Pixar went on to create the worlds first developed at NeXT is at the heart of Apple’s current renaissance.And Laurene and I have a wonderful family together.I’m pretty sure none of this would have happened if I hadn’t been fired from Apple.It was awful tasting medicine, but I guess the patient needed it.Sometimes life hits you in the head with a brick.Don’t lose faith.I’m convinced that the only thing that kept me going was that I loved what I did.You’ve got to find what you love.And that is as true for your work as it is for your lovers.Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work.And the only way to do great work is to love what you do.If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking.Don’t settle.As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it.And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on.So keep looking until you find it.Don’t settle.My third story is about death.When I was 17, I read a quote that went something like: “If you live each day as if it was your last, someday you’ll most certainly be right.“ It made an impression on me, and since then, for the past 33 years, I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself: “If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?“ And whenever the answer has been “No“ for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something.Remembering that I’ll be dead soon is the most important tool I’ve ever encountered to help me make the big choices in life.Because almost everythingthese things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important.Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose.You are already naked.There is no reason not to follow your heart.About a year ago I was diagnosed with cancer.I had a scan at 7:30 in the morning, and it clearly showed a tumor on my pancreas.I didn’t even know what a pancreas was.The doctors told me this was almost certainly a type of cancer that is incurable, and that I should expect to live no longer than three to six months.My doctor advised me to go home and get my affairs in order, which is doctor’s code for prepare to die.It means to try to tell your kids everything you thought you’d have the next 10 years to tell them in just a few months.It means to make sure everything is buttoned up so that it will be as easy as possible for your family.It means to say your goodbyes.I lived with that diagnosis all day.Later that evening I had a biopsy, where they stuck an endoscope down my throat, through my stomach and into my intestines, put a needle into my pancreas and got a few cells from the tumor.I was sedated, but my wife, who was there, told me that when they viewed the cells under a microscope the doctors started crying because it turned out to be a very rare form of pancreatic cancer that is curable with surgery.I had the surgery and I’m fine now.This was the closest I’ve been to facing death, and I hope its the closest I get for a few more decades.Having lived through it, I can now say this to you with a bit more certainty than when death was a useful but purely intellectual concept: No one wants to die.Even people who want to go to heaven don’t want to die to get there.And yet life with his poetic touch.This was in the late 1960’s, before personal computers and desktop publishing, so it was all made with typewriters, scissors, and polaroid cameras.It was sort of like Google in paperback form, 35 years before Google came along: it was idealistic, and overflowing with neat tools and great notions.Stewart and his team put out several issues of The Whole Earth Catalog, and then when it had run its course, they put out a final issue.It was the mid-1970s, and I was your age.On the back cover of their final issue was a photograph of an early morning country road, the kind you might find yourself hitchhiking on if you were so adventurous.Beneath it were the words: “Stay Hungry.Stay Foolish”.It was their farewell message as they signed off.Stay Hungry.Stay Foolish.And I 二零一一年注定是不平凡的一年，这一年我考上了大学，有了一个机会，一个走出农村，接触大学与社会的机会。同样是这一年，一位伟大的独一无二的人与世长辞，他就是史蒂夫·乔布斯。这位苹果公司的创始人兼首席执行官永远的离开了我们，载着人们满满地祈福与哀悼„„在他逝世的随后一段时间《乔布斯传》这本书走进了我的书架，这本书，这个人也因此与我的大学结下了不解之缘。起先，网购到这本书之后我就一直把它摆在书架最显眼的位置以便于我时时翻阅。个人而言，我对乔布斯的了解与认识大都来源于这本书，对于乔布斯传奇式的一生的浓厚兴趣让我在最初的日子里时常拿起它来翻阅。当然现在对于其中的很多内容早已忘之于九霄之外，唯独对乔布斯的三个人生故事印象深刻，久久难忘。

第一个故事

关于乔布斯的大学生涯。他大学六个月退学，在校旁听一年半后彻底退学，因为他的养父母无法承担高昂的大学学费，而他自己也觉得上大学没有什么意义。在校旁听的那段时期，他选修了自己喜欢的书法课程，后来证明正是在书法课程上学到的文字排版等知识给他日后的创造个人电脑的成功之路垫下铺路石。他说我们必须相信某些东西----勇气、命运、生命以及因果报应等等。要相信这些会为你铺平前进的道路，会给予你听从自己心身的自信，会引导你走自己的路，然后取得成功。初入大学的我们可能没有像乔布斯那样毅然决然退学的勇气，但是从另一个侧面来说，乔布斯的成功也一部分归功于他短暂的大学学习，所以我们能做的就是像他一样选择自己喜欢的课程，参与有益于自身发展的活动。相信我们自身的能力，踏实努力奋斗，未来的道路自会水到渠成。

第二个故事

关于乔布斯的事业起伏与得失。乔布斯与同伴十年的努力从车库里创立了如今家喻户晓的苹果公司，在这后不久他却因为个性不羁被公司解雇，失去生活重心的他没有抱怨与颓废而是决定从头开始。五年后，NeXT和皮克斯公司的崛起，爱情与家庭的建立让他重获信心最终回到苹果公司。他坚信不断前行的力量就是热爱自己所做的一切，不断发现，寻找自己喜欢的事业，不要半途而废。是呀！不断寻找并坚持自己的热爱，这正是我们大学生所需要的精神信念。相信当我们经历过这些寻找与坚持的“苦药”后，“良效”必然能使我们站的更高看得更远。

第三个故事

关于乔布斯与疾病的抗争。零四年，在事业蒸蒸日上的时候乔布斯被诊断出身患胰腺癌，医生确诊是恶性肿瘤无法治愈，最多还能活3到6个月，医生建议他安排后事，他任然埋头工作关注公司的效益。谢天谢地，后来通过再次确诊手术治疗后他奇迹般地好了。他说：“这是我和死神离得最近的一次，谁也不愿意死，就算那些想进天堂的人也不愿意为了去那而死。”当然死亡是我们共同的归宿，旧的不去，新的不来。现在的一切最终也会淹没在历史长河中。他告诫我们：

时间有限，不要将它们浪费在重复他人的生活上，不要囿于成见，不要让别人观点的聒噪声吞没自己的心声。最重要的是，要有跟着自己的感觉和直觉走的勇气。太多的人在死亡面前惊恐惧怕，如若我们都能像乔布斯那样直面死亡，多一分豁达少一分惊恐，多一分珍惜少一分挥霍，从心而欲，相信自我，珍惜现在，把握未来不是梦！
